We had the good fortune of connecting with Corinne Copeland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corinne, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success and brand is being realistic, having determination, being consistent, and providing excellent customer service. Being realistic helps you to understand that if you go too big or too fast, sometimes causes you to fail as you have more debt than profit. Determination to make it work and consistency is needed because working for yourself is hard work and the hardest you will ever work in life, and providing excellent customer service keeps your patients coming back and referring their friends and family members to you as well.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Family practice is Nurse Practitioner owned. What sets me apart is I genuinely care about my patients. When my patients come to me, they receive one-on-one care that is not rushed; they do not feel like they are just a number but an individual with individual needs. I also offer affordable memberships to uninsured patients, such as other small business owners. I started mobile, then rented a room from Derma Unique a few doors down. Doing that showed me that I might be able to afford my practice, especially since I saw the course growing. I started part-time for three years and worked at Texas Children’s Hospital. I recently quit my full-time job and have been working full-time at my clinic, Real Nurturing Family Practice, since May 2022. It’s not easy, but so worth it. I have never worked so hard, but it is rewarding, and would not change a thing.
The lesson’s I have learned is how to have faith, trust your gut and learn when to move forward to the next step. Most importantly, I learned to appreciate when you have a spouse and children who support your growth and dreams.
I am a small family practice where I do anything a primary care provider can do. I take most major insurance but also provide affordable cash pay prices and memberships for patients that need it. I also specialize in Dysport and fillers, women’s and men’s health, hormone imbalance such as T-shots, and hormone pellets, Weight loss visits, and IV hydration therapy, vitamin Injections, and O-shots! I dream of eventually seeing RNFPs in multiple locations providing the same exemplary care as the first, all NP ran. I am married to my fantastic husband and number 1 supporter Lester Copeland, and I have three beautiful children. My Daughter and oldest, Aaliyah, also works as my medical assistant and certified phlebotomist at the clinic while attending Lone Star College.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my besties show up in town, we have to go to the Breakfast Klub for breakfast; then of course, Houston is known for having some of the most magnificent homes, so they always want to see houses so they can move. Then we hit up spots such as Turkey leg hut, Hit up some museums downtown. Galveston is definitely in the line up maybe rent a spot out there and hang on the beach for a couple of days. Then definitely hang out at some Caribbean functions as I am from the United States Virgin Island, St. Thomas. A little shopping at the Galleria, and yes, we are foodies, so more restaurants. So many to choose from here in Houston.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Jacqueline Nixon, Author of Lil Steven (Why is School so Hard). She is my older sibling who has always supported me in my dreams and helped fade away my fears of being an entrepreneur. She initially went to the Air force after high school but recently graduated with her BA in business, and I am incredibly proud of her.
