We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Hayek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In the fast-paced world of marketing, I saw a need for change—and I knew I could deliver it. After spending over 15 years in marketing and leadership roles, I’ve worked with more marketing professionals and agencies than I can count. Time after time, I watched as they made big promises about results, leads, and revenue growth, only to underdeliver. It became a pattern: these agencies would pitch impressive-sounding strategies, yet when I asked data-driven questions about their methods, they rarely had answers. After years of hoping things would improve, I realized I could create a solution that genuinely served business owners.
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset and a deep commitment to everything I do, and that’s why I knew I was ready to start my own business. The leap into launching J&H Creative Consulting in May 2024 was years in the making. Of course, I went through all the “scary” thoughts that come with starting something new, but ultimately, the drive to create something meaningful and impactful outweighed the fears.
Since starting J&H, it’s been a rewarding journey. Not only am I finally implementing real, effective marketing strategies that actually work, but I’m also restoring trust in marketing for business owners who have been burned by empty promises. Bringing this faith back to my clients and showing them that marketing can be a powerful, dependable tool for growth has been one of the best parts of this experience.
At J&H Creative Consulting, I’m committed to delivering results that are measurable and meaningful. I’m here to redefine what it means to be a true marketing partner and to prove that impactful marketing is possible when strategy and purpose lead the way.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At J&H Creative Consulting, our mission is simple: to drive revenue and growth for the businesses we work with. Through our specialized fractional CMO services and targeted marketing strategies, we provide the expertise needed to elevate your brand, generate leads, and maximize ROI. Combining data-driven insights with creative innovation, we focus on delivering actionable, revenue-focused strategies that help your business thrive in today’s competitive market.
I’ve reached this point in my business journey through a lot of hard lessons and tough decisions. Some of those lessons were painful, but each one pushed me to grow and build something I’m truly proud of. Success is never easy—it takes dedication, resilience, passion, making hard choices, and sometimes letting go of people who aren’t willing to grow with you. For me, staying focused on the long-term goals has kept me moving forward, no matter the obstacles.
What I want people to know about my brand and story is this: life will throw countless curveballs, both personally and professionally, but I choose to see and shine a light on the good in this world. Every day holds blessings—you just have to be willing to look for them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the Houston, TX area and I wanted to show them a good time, here is a list of places that I would want to take them to check out.
1. Texans or Astros game (Depending on the season) – There is no “stadium loud” & support for our local sports team like there is here in H-Town!
2. When it comes to food I would take them to “King Taco” taco truck in Tomball, TX for the most delicious breakfast tacos & then El Tiempo for some Mexican food & margaritas for lunch/dinner!
3. If it was a family filled day with our kids, I would make sure we all made a trip down to the Houston Zoo. There is so much fun to be had for both kids & adults.
4. Brother’s Pizza off Hwy 6 is a must!
5. We would also have to swing by Common Bond for some bakery/dessert items!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel so fortunate to have worked for incredible companies and leaders over the years—people who gave me the creative freedom to grow and refine my skills into what they are today. Each role and each mentor along the way has been such a gift, and I’m deeply grateful for all of them.
Starting my own business has been an adventure, and I couldn’t have done it without my amazing support system. My family and close friends have been my foundation through this journey. My husband, mom, sister, and a handful of close friends have cheered me on every step of the way, lifting me up through all the highs and holding me steady through the lows. Knowing they’re in my corner is a joy and a source of strength I can’t put into words.
And I have to give a shoutout to a book that’s had a huge impact on my mindset: Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. This book taught me resilience in a way that’s stuck with me; Goggins’ lessons on mental toughness have been priceless in the rollercoaster world of business ownership. If you’re looking for a read that will challenge and inspire you, add it to your list!
