Meet Courtney Peters | Broker at Courtney Lane Properties

We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy is helping others achieve their goals. There is nothing more rewarding than helping a client find the perfect home and celebrating at the closing table! A home purchase is generally the biggest purchase someone makes in their lifetime, and to be trusted to be a part of that is so rewarding. I love learning about what my clients need in their home and then going on the hunt to find them “the one” to fit those needs. At the end of the day, if I can make that happen and they are happy, then I am happy and fulfilled.

What should our readers know about your business?
My home flipping background and knowledge of remodeling have been very helpful to me in helping my clients navigate through their inspection period, or if they are looking for ideas to put their personal touch on their new home. I think my clients see that as an added value that I bring to the table when they are ready to buy or sell their homes. The growth of my business has been mostly dependent on referrals, and I feel that I have been able to be successful because of my background. I owe all of my success to my wonderful clients who continue to recommend me to their family and friends!
The most challenging part of becoming a real estate agent for me was that first year. I found it difficult to get people to want to work with you on one of the biggest sales/purchases they will ever make when you have little experience. I feel lucky to have gotten some wonderful clients that first year who trusted me to do the job for them and started recommending me to their peers. Now, I work as hard as I can to give my people the best customer service and advice I can so they keep coming to me for their buying and selling needs!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend come in town for a long weekend, I would tell them to come on Thursday so we could go to Bingo in the Heights to start things off! Its such a fun environment for all ages and you can bring in your own food and drink. Friday we would go to lunch at Tiny Boxwoods and then go walk around the Memorial Park trail loop. I love walking here, especially since they have added the Eastern Glades area! Friday night we would do a nice dinner at Marmo in the Montrose Collective. Saturday we would go to a late morning brunch at Harry’s in Midtown and then we would go brewery hopping in the afternoon! Some of my favorites include Eureka Heights, Walking Stick, Karbach, and 4J Brewing Company. For dinner, we would go to Hughie’s, one of my go-tos and favorite local spots. Sunday before they left town we would have to go fill up on a delicious breakfast sandwich from Egg Haus. They would leave Houston very full, but also having had a great time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout feature to my parents, Ricky and Carolyn Jenkins! They are both in the real estate business and I grew up watching them succeed as entrepreneurs in this field. My dad started his own commercial real estate business, The Jenkins Organization, in 1989 and has grown it to be hugely successful. My mom began flipping homes in the 80s and quickly developed a reputation as a fantastic remodeler and amazing realtor. They both have taken time to train me and teach me all of their trade secrets, and I am so grateful to have had them as my mentors when I started Courtney Lane Properties.
