We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and I enjoy everything about our city! Houston is such a melting pot of diversity and it shows in our areas of art, entertainment, and dining. Another huge appeal about Houston, we have hidden cultural gems that expose us to foreign tradition, food, and experiences. I feel Houston’s diversity impacted who I am today because it instilled an openness to learn about traditions that are different to me. Any given weekend, I may be dining at a Greek restaurant, taking in the sights at an Italian heritage festival, sitting at a Nigerian food tasting, crashing a local dive in Eado or snapping photos of an art installation at Discovery Green. There is always a new experience waiting and it makes me a well-rounded individual to be a part of it all.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Children’s event planning is an art form as you have the opportunity to visually celebrate important milestones. I love speaking with clients, discussing ideas and finding a way to execute their vision! I started this business on a shoe string budget and had to get creative with a lot of the things I wanted. I did everything myself such as designing my own website, shooting marketing videos or creating unique branding content. Tackling this part of the business was fun, however, I quickly learned to outsource help and not try to do it all. As a business owner, you devote 150% of your life to your business and as it grows learn when to scale back! Another lesson, in the beginning, I was about quantity and not quality by attempting to offer everything the competition was offering, which only overwhelmed me. I realized I needed to be authentic to me and only offer what made sense to me and my brand. So over time, I have simplified my event planning offerings and came up with a formula that works for me and my company! What I would like the world to know about my brand and company is that Glamour Avenue Parties is constantly changing and constantly evolving! Right now, we adjusting to our “new normal” under the pandemic and tweaked our offerings to adhere to new guidelines. Glamour Avenue Parties went from providing on site events to offering party kits. This change scared me at first because I thought, will people be receptive to this? However. I learned, if you have a great brand or product, your customers will change with you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I wanted to highlight some of the cool things we had going on the city and surrounding areas I would take an out of town friend to Surfside Beach in Freeport, Texas, shopping at the Galleria, check out the fun and colorful interactive art exhibit, The Color Factory, drive to San Marcos to go snorkeling in the San Marcos River, or even jet ski in Lake Travis. Houston has a ton to offer and even better, a full tank of gas may lead you too Galveston, Dallas, Austin or even Lake Charles for a fun day trip excursion.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As the owner of a family owned event planning company as much as I try to do it all, I can’t! There have been many occasions that I enlisted my mom, Catherine Price, for her help and she always showed up in one capacity or another! My mother is a woman of many hats and apparently she has one for every occasion because she has showed up as a hostess, baker, costume cleaner, seamstress and nearly any other area I needed help in!
