We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always wanted to be an actor/actress. At a very young age I knew I wanted to do what I saw on television. I would memorize lines and re-enact them in the mirror. I learned how to make my self cry on demand. I was determined to be an entertainer so I started off doing plays at church but knew I wanted more.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To date I have done four stage plays that are all on Amazon Prime, I have five movies that are on Tubi and Amazon prime, I have made appearances on Tyler Perry’s The Oval, Zatima, and All the Queens Men. I have three films in the works and I promise you I’m not done. Going out and auditioning can be so stressful but I have learned that it’s all apart of the job. I learned that even when you are told no, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have the goods, it’s just you are not what they were looking for. I wish I could say that it’s been easy but the truth is that this is hard work and you have to be dedicated to the grind. I want the world to know that when they see me on film or stage I am giving them all that I have . My goal is to touch the audience and fans in any way possible.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to first thank my parents, siblings, and children for all of their support and love. They encourage me when I’m tired and want to give up on my dreams. They are a big part of the reasons I wanted to become an actor. I want to build a legacy for my family. I also want to thank Charnele Brown, my first acting coach whom I can still call to this day. I would like to thank Annie Johnson of AWJ productions who gave me my first professional acting role in one of her many stage plays. Then last but not least Linda Freeman and Marcus Freeman. They encouraged me to just dive in and get started. I thought I was to old but they were like you can do this.
