Meet Daijah Nabors | Licensed Cosmetologist & Custom Wig Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daijah Nabors and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daijah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think of risk as that dip when you’re on a rollercoaster. It’s scary but that feeling in the pit of your stomach is only temporary before you head back up to the top. I moved fresh out of college to a new city where I had 0 clientele, no job, but I had a plan and support. This lead to me getting my cosmetology license in 6 months, surpassing my quarterly goals, and being featured in a magazine. Even before this past year, I’ve always said scared money don’t make no money. This phrased pushed me to invest in myself like I invest in others no matter how scary the type of money I was putting out seemed. The affect of jumping out and taking that leap of faith has pushed me beyond my goals and continues to put me in rooms with powerful people, and it will continue to help me leave my legacy.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My company is Prettier Profiles and we specialize in bringing inner beauty out. We are a beauty company that currently focuses on providing luxury long lasting wigs to customers world wide. What sets me apart from other companies is the methodology in constructing wigs as well as my exterptise backed by science. We use EXACT measurements to ensure the wig fits and looks like SCALP! This is why we call them custom creations.  Our premade wigs are even constructed to fit and be worn glueless to ensure your hair underneath your wig is protected. We answer the problem of needing a last minute hair fix that will last for years to come! There’s no bad hair days because Prettier Profiles comes to slay! The science behind Prettier Profiles comes from almost 10 years of experience and being a licensed cosmetologist. In all honesty, the only true protective style, in my opinion, is wig. Your hair is protected from the damaging rays of the sun, or  it’s not weighed down from heavy braids or locs. We provide more than just wigs, we provide hair care regimens and products personally to our clientle to ensure they meet their hair goals and look good in the process. All this … is what sets us apart. Now, to get where I am today it took persistence and support! Often many have a toxic mindset that they have to struggle to reap the rewards of success. That’s the farthest from the truth. It wasn’t easy but what helped was asking for help when I needed it! Yes, struggling happens but if you don’t build meaningful connections it may take you 1000 times longer to reach a goal. This is the biggest lesson I have learned. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there in every room you’re in. I used to shrink myself in rooms I walked in because I thought I didn’t deserve to be there or that my accolades weren’t real. I had a true case of imposter syndrome but I grew from that and have made significant meaningful connections. I want them to know that Prettier Profiles is only the beginning of the lifestyle brand that I am building. Daijah Nabors, the little girl from Memphis will be known around the world through the lives touched. Stay tuned to see how we expand!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I am not from Houston but it will make a year I’ve been here in July.

For breakfast, we would go to Snooze Eatery! I absolutely love the unique food at this place. Another option is Union Kitchen I love the beignets. For lunch, we need good vibes and even better food so, of course I’m taking my bestie to Turkey Leg Hut! The music and ambiance is a great addition to add to a great meal.  As for a Friday night we are going to move and shake on down to Grooves! They have an amazing happy hour. The perfect name for this place because it makes you want to move. Now, it’s Saturday morning and we are going to head over to Kamp for good drinks, good music, and brunch.  For the night time, we’ll head over to The Spot (the original) for a pregrame, and then head to The Address, Parma, or Prospect Park. Sunday funday is here and now it’s time to end our weekend well. We’re going to head to Thirteen for fish and grits at their brunch and the Color Factory for some fun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, Clotee, deserves recognition in this story. She’s a single mother of 4 that worked multiple jobs and got her degree while still making time to attend school events. She never let her circumstance prevent her from reaching for her dreams. She always instilled in me whatever dream, no matter how big or small it is I can do it. Not only that, she supported me in those endeavors. She told her friends, random people on the street, heck even a plant if it could talk back, about my company. I can remember distinctly as a child wanting to be a fashion designer and she bought me this kit that had samples and drawing pads when I was 10 for Christmas so that I could do that. Later, I was gifted a sewing machine from my aunt and my mom made sure I had fabric to practice with , needles and thread. Little did she know years later my company would flourish into one that relying on producing machine made custom wigs. I am blessed to call her my mom, so shoutout to her. She is currently working on starting her own Med Spa in Memphis,TN to provide services to promote beauty and health.
