Meet Daja Azul | Laser Teeth Whitening Specialist & Certified Personal Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daja Azul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daja, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk taking is a major key in just life in general. To see the changes you desire, you must be able to step out of your comfort zone and know that you can bring the things you envision to life. For me personally, making the move from my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana to Houston almost two years ago was one of my biggest risks. To know that I desired more for myself and that my hometown could not give it to me, was big for me. When I made that decision, I was working a job I hated, living in a city that made me feel limited and hopeless. I had to have faith that moving would work in my favor and take whatever came with it. Although it has been a journey of highs and lows, I would not trade the lessons I’ve learned, or experience that I gained. Taking this risk has showed me just how strong I am as a person and that most of the time I am the only person holding myself back. Betting on and supporting yourself is crucial before ever expecting anybody else to.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So as a Laser Teeth Whitening Specialist, my mission is to give brighter smiles a long with a boost of confidence. “Just White Smiles” is something different, but it’s still rewarding. Your smile is something that is seen first, and you should always invest in it. This business has taught me to have patience and to trust the process regardless of what it may look like at the moment. There’s going to be slow seasons and times where your belief in yourself and your dream is tested but know that you will eventually come out on top. I like to take these lessons and values that I learn from business and apply them to my daily life because you can honestly learn a lot from entrepreneurship. I’m most excited to see where my career takes me and how it continues to help my self-improvement as a woman. I am a multifaceted person with big dreams and I’m learning to love the journey of making them a reality.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well as somebody who is a homebody, me and my best friend would spend most of our time inside. But we definitely have to hit some food spots and do a bit of exploring, of course. So, we would start the day by going to Taste Bar for brunch, and then doing a bit of sightseeing in midtown. The Aquarium would be a fun experience, then we would grab dinner at Lost and Found. After, we could go see what’s going on at The Rise Rooftop. On a more chill day we could try my favorite Vegan place Soul Food Vegan before spending some time at Buffalo Bayou Park. On another day we could go to POST Houston, then go grab food and drinks at Ador, downtown. A place she has to try before leaving is Stuff’d Wings on Richmond Ave. the wings are so good.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So, my journey to Houston to embark on my career has been a real roller coaster and I do not think I would be where I am today without the support of my loving mother and two best friends. They’ve answered every phone call and text message, whether it was about me crying from being overwhelmed, or sharing exiting news. Their words of encouragement and believing in me, even when I couldn’t always believe in myself, means the world to me. So, thank you Ma, Kam, and Nat! You all are some real ones; I love you guys!
