We had the good fortune of connecting with Dalila Galindo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dalila, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Since I was little I have always had a creative side in me. When I started planning my daughters 2nd birthday party, I wanted it to be memorable and amazing. Every parent wants to go big for their kids, am I right! I didn’t have the funds to hire anyone, so I used my creativity and decorated everything myself. I made the paper flowers, center pieces, and decorated the cake table. So many people complemented me on my work. I felt proud. I loved decorating, so I decided to start my own business in party decor. In 2019, I graduated in business. In 2020, I started Dalila’s Decor.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is in event decor. I love decorating my customers parties. To be able to bring their ideas to life and bring a smile to their face warms my heart up. I think what makes me different is my personality. I always try to give off a fun, energetic and caring vibe for my customers. To be able to trust me is very important to me. When I was ready to start my business Covid started spreading more and more. Businesses were shutting down, events were being canceled. It made me take a couple steps back because I felt like I was never going to be able to start with the virus spreading. So I put my business to the side. Until October 2020 I started seeing event decorators decorating small parties. That gave me so much hope! I told myself let’s start this business and even if you have one party a month, you got this! I felt like the hope I had In myself helped me move forward. I have learned many lessons along the way. One big lesson I learned was no matter how many turn downs you get someone will love your work and hire you. That is why I give my all to my customers.
I love bringing good vibes to an atmosphere and that’s how I want people to remember me as. A happy and caring person.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town for one week. We would definitely go to egghaus, black walnut café, sweet Paris and snooze for breakfast during the week. As an afternoon adventure each day I would take her to the Houston Zoo, the Cockrell Butterfly Center, ride bikes at Allenparkway, and go to the galleria because we all need some retail therapy.
For our night adventures we would definitely got to Washington Ave and Main Street and Midtown for some fun dancing and drinking.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
