We had the good fortune of connecting with Damien Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damien, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to become my own boss and gain financial freedom. To add, the only way for me to obtain financial liberation was to start my own company and put my livelihood in my own hands versus someone else’s hands.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Three65 Ideas will partner with you to create and execute a cost-effective advertising and marketing campaigns utilizing traditional, non-traditional, digital and social media channels and mediums. Services include content creation and management, copywriting, media buying and planning, web analytics, consulting, brand creation and management, SEO, SEM, mobile marketing, video marketing, social media marketing and many more. I’ll work with any budget. I don’t have long-term contracts; my services are on-demand (get the services you need when you need them). Furthermore, my services are like an a la carte restaurant menu (different services can be asked for separately rather than grouping or bundling services together). In addition, I work directly with my clients and welcome their input and treat them like a partner. I started my company in March of 2015 after the ad agency I was working for went out of business. To add, I decided to used my marketing degree and professional experience toward developing my own company. Also, the ultimate goal for my company is helping business owner’s grow their business. The process and journey wasn’t easy and continues to be a challenge. I overcome the challenges by keeping a positive mindset, having faith, continuing to learn new things, being consistent with my business approach or strategy and surrounding myself with positive like-minded people. Lessons I’ve learned during my journey include but are not limited to the following: you have to believe in yourself, worry about the things you can control, maximize everyday and don’t waste your time or energy on things or people that block you from being productive and reaching your goals (time/energy are precious commodities). The ultimate goal for my brand or company is to help every minority owned business grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Alley Kat Bar. Also, we would visit Steak 48, Bisou, Lucille’s, The Turkey Leg Hut, Kulture, The Stuffed Baked Potato Factory, The Kemah Boardwalk, NASA and Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. We would hang out at the various establishments in the Downtown, Midtown, EaDo and Galleria/Uptown areas.. The Buffalo Soldiers Museum and other museums would be on the itinerary.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
