We had the good fortune of connecting with Damita Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Damita, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision that I have ever had to make, was when I decided to step out on faith 100% to start my bakery La’Dough Sweets. I walked away from Corporate America on faith, a dream and a pray. I removed myself from a secured financial position to enter into a world of unknown possibilities.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
La’ Dough Sweets was created from my love of baking for family and friends. The name itself represents my three wonderful children.
The first three letters of the name La’Dough Sweets are the very initials for my children’s first names. The (L) represents my daughter Lea, the (A) represents my daughter Alexis, the (D) represents my son Denzel and the word Dough speaks for itself lol.
I have had many years of experience in baking and catering for many different organizations. I have faced many challenges and have been blessed to still maintain. In 2019 I decided to step out on my faith and follow my dream of having my very own sweets bakery now known as La’Dough Sweets, where deliciously simple, handcrafted treats is our one and only SWEET spot. I can say that I most proud of the fact that my bakery is 100% female owned, black owned, and family operated. It is such a great joy when you have the support of your family in all aspects of operating a business.
What sets us apart from many others is that we believe in providing excellent customer service while delivering quality products. All orders are made to order. Daily our sweets are made by hand, from scratch, with love to you.
What I would like the world to know about us is that we are committed to customers and the products that we provide. We will always go over and beyond to assure our customers satisfaction. We take pride in ever recipe that is created and will continue to produce new flavors for the enjoyment of all our customers. We eagerly await the opportunity to serve you. So, Order, Eat, and Smile!!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was to visit for a week, I would most definitely show her a great time. We would have breakfast at The Breakfast Klub, lunch with Lil Moes Potatoes or Chitalian Pizzera, dinner at Thirteen by James Harding. We would get our sweet treat fixes from Rollies Frozen custard and of course La’Dough Sweets.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to my incredible team and awesome clients, without them both there would be no La’Dough Sweets.
