We had the good fortune of connecting with Dandy Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dandy, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
It makes me happy to know that I am living my dream of being an actor and that I am able to have a successful living from the profession. I wake up everyday looking forward to new challenges.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My way of connecting and empathizing with people makes me special. I am always present and able to support and listen to the people I love. I am happy and proud to know that I am the person I dreamed of becoming when I was a child.
There have always been obstacles in my life, but with the support of my family I have been able to face them. Since I was a child, I knew that I wanted to dedicate myself to the artistic world. When I was 17 years old, I decided to dedicate myself completely to acting. Over time, acting opportunities in theater, commercials, films and telenovelas arose. I have had the opportunity to act in both South and North America.
Over time I have learned not to take things personally and to believe in myself. I know that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
I want you to know that the acting industry is not easy. Despite such, everything I have accomplished has been done with love and dedication.
I want you to know that your dreams can come true if you believe in yourself. Never give up.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start the morning with a coffee and pastrie at Lalaland. Afterwards, we would visit the MFAH. Upon leaving the museum, we would enjoy a delicious brunch at Barnaby’s.
Then we would go to my favorite place in Houston, Rothko’s Chapel, to meditate and fill ourselves with peace.
We would also walk in the surrounding gardens. To start the evening, we would have a few drinks at my favorite bar, Poison Girl. For dinner, we would eat at my favorite restaurant, The Burger Joint. To end the night, we would have delicious dessert from Tiny’s Milk and Cookies.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my Shoutout to all of the people which have believed and supported me on this journey.
I also give a special Shoutout to my family and friends, you know who you are. I love you.
