Meet Daniel Ginsberg | Co-Founder & CEO of Utrain Inc.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Ginsberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a former basketball player and coach, I’ve always been passionate about the sport and helping others improve their skills. When I started looking for ways to manage my basketball training business and connect with private trainers, I found it difficult to find a centralized platform that made it easy to search for and book sessions. That’s when I realized there was an opportunity for us to create a marketplace for basketball trainers and clients.

Co-Founder & CTO Darryl Smith II and I saw the potential for our business to not only make it easier for people to find and book private training sessions, but also to provide trainers with a reliable source of income and help grow the sport at the grassroots level.

Starting a business is never easy, and there were definitely challenges along the way. But we believe we are creating a platform that is making a positive impact on the basketball community.

What should our readers know about your business?
Absolutely, Utrain is the very first user friendly mobile App geared specifically towards the basketball training industry. Trainers can seamlessly manage their training business, from scheduling through payments for free with no hidden fees.

We are proud to offer a unique and innovative approach to connecting trainers with clients. Utrain allows trainers to set their own prices and automatically collect 100% instantly after the session ends, avoiding fees and 3-4 day payouts of websites. We believe that our business model is a win-win for both trainers and clients, and we are committed to continually improving and evolving our platform to meet the changing needs of the market.

Currently we are grateful and excited to announce Utrain to be selected into University of Virginia Darden School of Business Accelerator Program. We are also looking forward to sponsoring the 2023 Gotham Hoops Classic located at Adlai Stevenson HS in Bronx, NY January 28th and 29th featuring top high school teams from around the country. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As someone who has lived in Charlottesville, Virginia for 25 years, I can tell you that there are plenty of fun things to do in the area. One of my favorite activities is visiting local wineries and breweries as well as the restaurants on the historic downtown mall. Charlottesville is home to a number of excellent wineries and breweries that offer tastings and tours, making it a great destination for food and drink enthusiasts.

Another thing I enjoy doing, outside of Utrain, is hiking and being outdoors during the change of seasons. The area is home to a number of beautiful parks and trails, including Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains, which offer stunning views and a chance to get some exercise.

Other fun activities in Charlottesville include visiting local museums and art galleries, attending sporting events and concerts at the University of Virginia, and dining at some of the excellent restaurants in the area. No matter what you enjoy, Charlottesville has something for everyone.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. I have been fortunate to have the guidance and support of some truly amazing advisors and mentors. I have to give a special shoutout to Robert (Bob) Pons, Joseph Toe, and Cade Lemcke. Each of these individuals has played a crucial role in the success of Utrain.

Bob has been an incredible mentor and has always been willing to listen to my ideas and offer constructive feedback. Joseph has provided invaluable insights and guidance on the financial side of things, and Cade has been a great resource for marketing and sales strategy.

I can’t thank these three individuals enough for all of their help and support. We truly believe that without their guidance, experience, and mentorship, Utrain wouldn’t be where it is today. A huge thank you to Robert, Joseph, and Cade for all that they’ve done.
