We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is so important in helping one achieve their goals and aspirations. I literally cannot stress this enough! I wouldn’t have the mindset I carry today if it wasn’t for this. Before I started my business, I was constantly making excuses and putting my ideas down. As humans we constantly over-estimate the probability of something going wrong. That is, we tend to focus more on what might go wrong – what we might lose or sacrifice – than what might go right. Because what we focus on tends to magnify in our imaginations, it causes us to misjudge (and over-estimate) the likelihood of it occurring. Yet the reality is that the risk of something not working out is often not near as high as we estimate and the odds of it working out well, are often far better. We under estimate our ability to handle the consequences of risk. This goes hand in hand with the above, but is more focused on our capability over all. Too often we let our misgivings about whether we have what it takes to succeed get the better of us. The result is that we often avoid taking on new challenges (or proactively pursuing new opportunities) because we don’t trust sufficiently in our ability to rise to the challenges they involve. I don’t blame anyone for thinking as such, it is simply human nature! However, it’s our duty to oversee those manifestations stopping us and dive in! The whole process of growing up is simply making mistakes and learning from them. Whether you fail or succeed, you simply wouldn’t know if you don’t take that risk. I’ve talked to so many individuals that have expressed their fears of failing with their business or passions. You have to ask yourself, “Where is my fear of failure causing me to over-estimate the size of risk, under-estimate myself and holding me back from taking risks that would serve me (my business etc)?”. We cannot see the future but only live it! Anything we put our minds to we can achieve it. I mean just look at all these huge individuals that have already accomplished that. One thing I can say is that we are all human and no one is above the next. So that being said, why can one work 10x as hard, yet the others can’t? The idea of failing is just a facade. Even with failure you will always know success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Moving forward, starting a business is not easy, but it is not impossible. With everything that comes with it, you have to set aside time, money, and dedication to really put in your business. As I move forward with extending my business, one thing I want to express to others; is the will to not get comfortable. No matter how great the success is for the moment, don’t stop working to where you want to be. I admit at times i’ve gotten lazy and I steered from my path at times. Yet, i’ve always come back 10x motivated to work harder to where I need to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Houston, Texas, so there a ton of eventful things to do in the city. My favorite thing about living here is the delicious food. My favorite restaurants to indulge at are Mastros, Joey Uptown, Moxies, and Kiss Houston. One thing about this city is they never stop creating more places to eat at! Some fun places to check out are also Post Houston, the Galleria, interactive bars, and lounges. This city is full of so many surprises, from go karting downtown to riding scooters through the streets of the city. There is always something to do in Houston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my best friend, Ashley Martinez. I can honestly not thank her enough for how much she has changed my mindset and pushed me to overcome my fears. She has no idea how much it truly means to me. Without her I don’t think I would’ve took the initiative to even start my business. That’s my slime and I got her for life. I want to also thank god for giving me the strength and wisdom to move forward with my business as well. I pray he will only push me and her towards greatness and more success from here on out.
