We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Wicks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my business is consistency. I believe that being consistent with all things you do. Will bring you and your business a long way. Commitment!’ I also am very committed to providing the needs to my clientele and standing strong in my values, when it comes to servicing all.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me off from the rest of any charcuterie business is my artistry, diligence to making beautiful and quality boards. I am most proud of my charcuterie cups. It amazes how most of my clients are in awe of them and continue to order them. How I got to where I am today is literally dedication and doing a lot of work for free just so someone can say! “Oh 1818 charcuterie” did this grazing table. It definitely wasn’t easy. I had times where I said to myself, I can’t continue to do this. However, I also keep saying to myself. This is your passion. It will work! Just continue to work hard and take your time. Even to this day. It still isn’t easy. The lesson I have learned and continue to learn is HARD WORK PAYS OFF! I would love for the world to know that Danielle, owner and operator of 1818 charcuterie is proud of her business. She takes so much pride in her artistry. She has a huge heart and my comment to growth is unmatched

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love hosting so first stop would be drinks at Clarkwoods, followed by dinner at Guard and Grace. If we are dancing and wanted to have a good time. I would take them to one of favorite black owned bars in third ward called “The Spot” the drinks are beyond amazing and the DJ never misses a beat. Over the course of the weekend. We could go to a few brunch places. Graces, Chapman and Kirby, and Lucille’s. We could also rent some scooters downtown and do that. We could also go to Forth and Nomad and make some amazing candles. Lastly, go on a coffee date to LaLa
Land.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my family for sure. They have been amazing throughout the years. And very helpful.
