We had the good fortune of connecting with David Delrio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business is based on installing confidence in others by providing them with a premium service. As a stylist/barber I am responsible with a big part of my clients everyday life. Any important event in their life they come to me so they can look their best whether it’s a wedding, interview, birthday, or any other special occasion. And given the trust to make sure you look good for that event is what keeps me going. A good haircut can compliment your facial features. I make the community look the best so they can feel the best as they take on their everyday challenges. My business got to where it is today by building good relationships and by taking my time with each client. I will never rush anyone out my chair just to get to the next person however, I take my time on each haircut to make sure they come back for me and thinking more in the long term than trying to make fast money. I am my own biggest critic, everyday I watch videos to further my education and try to find more ways to give my clients the best service possible.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a licensed professional barber, I have been in the industry for a couple years. I specialize in men’s grooming. When I chose to get into barbering I thought about how I love people and I love art. Each clients head is a different canvas and my hands are my tools. Growing up I have always been very detailed and precise about everything I do. I believe this is why barbering is something that is ideal for me. I am most proud of my mindset when it comes to approaching anything obstacle. I feel like no matter what kind of hair you got or any problems with your hair you think you may have, I believe I can find a way and that type of confidence I feel like is what separates me from others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I have a lot of family from Kansas so taking them to the beach would be a must for me being they don’t see that often. Along with the Color factory which I recommended to any body it is one of my favourite experiences being that I went there already a couple times it don’t feel the same but remembering how it was my first time there it was one of my favourite places. And if you know me you know I love food I can eat all day. For me I feel like anybody new or visiting should try The Taste of Texas one of my favourite spots of anywhere I’ve been in the country along with the breakfast club. And Katy Asian town. Being that I’m not 21 yet I do not know where to go drink exactly but would just tell them to go on Washington ave. And last but not least depending on their schedule I would love to take anyone to an Astros game!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am where im at today because of the confidence and belief I had in my self. However there are some people who really encouraged me to do more and get out of my comfort zone. I can’t dedicate this to one single person but a group of people who all helped me get to where I’m at , and my son who is my main motivation to be better everyday. Having a strong support system has helped me truly believe I can do what I put my mind to, making it a reality. This type of mindset has put me on a path of consistently working to improve myself until I reach my goals no matter how long it takes.
