We had the good fortune of connecting with David Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my business is “lead with your heart”. This is advice given to both Shamans and Reiki Masters. It is advice that simply cannot fail.
The Dali Llama was once asked what the most important characteristic a spiritual person should have, and without pausing he answered, “compassion”. An energy worker, shaman, Reiki Master that has an open heart, the heart of compassion, will be able to listen intently, and react with love. Many people I see are people who just want to be heard. You wouldn’t believe the things I have been told from perfect strangers! But if that vibe is present — compassion and love — the healing begins at that moment. And the results are guranteed to be amazing!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is a three fold type of work. First, I am a life coach. I use my 34 years of sober time to listen and suggest, while always calling someone to their highest good. That is what was done with me by my supporters, and I continue to remind people there are no limits. There is no scarcity! The Universe can create space for anything you wish to do. So go ahead and dream, and dream big!
Second, I access the healing power of Reiki, acting as a channel to bring Chi energy into the client’s space. Chi energy exists all around us, and this energy is intelligent and knows where to go, what to do. It can heal the body, the mind and the soul. It goes deep into the energetic template and heals from the causal route.
Finally, I use the Shamanic techniques of drumming, rattling and journeying to discover anything I may have overlooked. Sometimes the journey offers a very special message for the client.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think one of the most beautiful places in Houston is the Japanese Tea Garden in Hermann Park. The entire park is incredible, but the Tea Garden is a heaven unto itself! There are paths and water features. Benches offer space to sit and just take in the beauty. Wildlife is often seen in this park. Maybe it is my old age showing, but all I am really interested in any more is peace. Living in the city, this park offers and amazing retreat into peaceful, quiet sounds and surroundings.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so. many supportive people in my life. These are people who have always supported me in any new thing I have done.
First, I would have to thank my AA community. I have been clean and sober in AA for 34 years, and that community has protected me, loved me unconditionally — and put up with me when I was being difficult! They are my foundation, my rock. And without sobriety, I am nothing.
Second, my mentor is Christian Andreason. He really changed my life some 12 years ago. He is a life coach with special abilities. He has always believed in me, always reminded me I am the captain of my own ship, that I can accomplish anything I want. My life has never been same since I met him. And it feels great to know he is only a phone call or visit away.
