We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawnitta Holseth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dawnitta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I loved creating things for friends and family and I LOVE fashion so why not put the two together. There is so much out there already but I want something different. I want to be able to be a one stop shop! I want to allow my creative side to flourish with my custom clothing and accessories. While still offering some sensible and affordable fashion for the every day stay at home mom, working professional & all in all real life women out there. Let’s be honest WE ARE BUSY! If I can help to take even the smallest load off I’ve done what I set out to do. I want to help make my clients ideas come to life in the real every day fashion world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have never considered myself to have a “real” job. I worked in child care when my children were young and then I was a stay at home mom for many years. When I decided to get back out there I fell into an admin role at a marketing company. Even then I only work part-time. My family has always been my top priority as I’ve never been the bread winner. I think that has pushed me to make this new business venture a successful one. I have set very high goals for myself and the only one to disappoint is myself. I want to prove to my family and myself that I’m more than just a mom! With that being said it is because I’m a mom that has also led me to this venture, the awareness of other moms out there looking for just what I can offer. Being a mom and wife have help to mold my business plan. It makes me one of them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love taking my friends and family to local family owned restaurants in my area. Eden Café is one of my most frequented eatery’s, I also love taking them to the downtown aquarium and the zoo. Of course if it’s baseball season I will always drag them to an Astro’s game. And what’s a trip to Houston without visiting a Buccees? Its a go to destination for anyone not from here!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shout out to my husband Matt. He has encouraged me to run with this idea and is helping make this dream come true.
