We had the good fortune of connecting with DaWonn Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DaWonn, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There has been plenty of times where I wanted to give up and throw in the towel pertaining to my business but what kept me not wanting to give up or throw in the towel was my love for my business, my supporters and my goals within my business that I promised myself and my mom that I would accomplished before she passed away in 2018. I know for myself I wanted to do so much more with my photography business besides being the photographer, I also wanted to open my own media school to teach younger photographers the basics of photography being that it was hard for me to gain help from veteran photographers in the business in my area. Having your own business can be very overwhelming at times because there have been many days where I felt like I wasn’t good enough to continue on, I felt like all my hard work I was putting in wasn’t getting me anywhere and sometimes it resulted in me actually not doing it at all for a little while. I can honestly say it took many nights or praying, my supporters encouraging me and me remembering why i started being a photography and what I wanted to accomplish a business owner and a photographer.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am mostly proud of how many people I have reached with just by doing my basic photography skills that I have taught myself through watching other photographers on youtube. I know with me learning everyday and becoming an even better photographer I know I will reach many more people. It’s been a journey to get to where I am now and I feel like I have a long way to go and it’s still a struggle but I am working hard everyday working my way to the top. I feel if I had a team with me I can get to the top faster and gain more clientele, etc. I’ve learned that patience is the key and in due time my time will come, Im learning more everyday about my career and all I need to know plus more to become an even better photographer.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m thankful for my supporters, motivators, etc. When I was going through one of the roughest time in my life many of my clients, friends and family supported me and because of that I want to do a special shout out to my family, friends and supports. Thank you for supporting me from beginning to now and I’m looking forward to getting to the top with you all.
