Meet Dawson Garza | Photographer and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawson Garza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawson, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always loved the arts and admired anyone that had the skills and drive to create. For me I just love creating things. Being able to make and idea or image from my mind come to life brings me joy and motivation to pursue my passions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up, I’ve always been drawn to making and creating things. My passion to create led me to pursuing a Fine Arts degree in computer animation. Being surrounded by so many forms of art and trying new things eventually led me to my current career as a graphic designer and photographer. I love getting to create with a camera and getting to collaborate with so many other creatives for projects. The biggest hurdle as an artist to overcome is your own mind. It is both your greatest asset and most harsh critic. One thing all professional creatives must choose is whether money or passion is more important. Many people don’t fully understand the worth of an artist which can make it tricky with any paid project.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m all about getting outside for physical activities and finding different foods. I’d plan a week full of sand volleyball, hitting all the nature trails and finding as many good trucks as I can.
