We had the good fortune of connecting with Deanna Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deanna, what matters most to you?
Authenticity holds a lot of value to me. It’s being vulnerable and passionate without putting a limit on who I am to the core. It’s even down to personality and being comfortable within myself to not be boxed in. I feel like being authentic shows in the work too because I allow myself to be present in the moment and feel what I feel. To me, it’s really the internal connection with self, which will always matter most.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My mind is what’s always busy and thinking of new ideas. Just really hyping myself up to translate all the creativity that goes on in my head. Plus the people keep me going too. From bouncing ideas off each other, to capturing different moments. There’s always something that sparks the fire.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many places to recommend. I’d take them to the Turkey Leg Hug and Reggae Hut for some good food. Bar 5015 and Kamp for the outdoor vibes and drinks. Then Masterpiece Deserts for some good cheesecake and other treats.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Big shoutout to my siblings for always encouraging me and holding me down and my parents, I love y’all. Thank you to those riding with me on this journey and supporting my craft, I appreciate you. And of course, thanks to God for making all this happen. It’s all love!
