We had the good fortune of connecting with Debra Vicik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Debra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
There is something very sweet and ethereal about entrepreneurship. It is your baby. You grow it, cultivate it and help it to thrive with every effort made. Coming from corporate sales, marketing and academic success, I always wanted to take my knowledge and skills and make it work for my own brand. I know I made the right choice. The key is to treat each interaction as an opportunity to exchange ideas and to leave them with a small gift whether a physical or knowledge based. That first impression is sometimes all you will get. I always choose to make it count.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Residential and Commercial Realtor. I started out as an investor and was teaching Business students only to realize that the message to my students on multiple streams of income and being your own boss was for me. I have been able to help countless people streamline their business, get a commercial space and purchase their dream homes. I always strive to bring the best out of everyone and bring their goals to fruition. Getting where I am today was not easy. I came from humble beginnings but my faith, family and friends always encouraged me. I still believe in smiling my way through anything. I have a heart to help people and will always give my all to help give back.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A day with me is like no other. If my best friend came to visit, we would start the day with aerial yoga by Amber J Yoga, then head to breakfast at Another Broken Egg for some shrimp and grits with blueberry lemonade mimosas. Afterwards, we would head to Candytopia to take pictures and laugh as we became art, then we’d head to Bar 5015 to hang on the patio before heading to to the rooftop pool at the Marriott Marque Downtown or to Rouxpour for some excellent food and city vibes depending on the mood of the day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mother and Father are true definitions of success. My Father went back to school in his 50’s earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree after 30 years as an Engineer before degrees were a requirement and became the Mayor of our hometown. He still holds office to this day! My Mother is the hardest working woman I know. She went back to school and started a business that she now has full autonomy over. They molded my siblings and I to strive for greatness and to serve people in everything we do.
