Meet DeejayDaDon | Jack of all trades

We had the good fortune of connecting with DeejayDaDon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeejayDaDon, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
To be honest I think it chose me. Since a kid I’ve had a love for music. If I wasn’t learning usher new choreo i was rapping a little Wayne song, dancing in a talent show or listening to my older brother spit who rapped at the time. I mean I’ve modeled and done photography. At this point I am not only a jack of all trades but an artist of all sorts. So the past 2 years I made it my business to take it to another level.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
DeejayDaDon is a statement. Not only am I telling people who I am it’s who they’ve always thought I was. I’ve always heard how modeling fit me or how I took the best pictures and should take photography more serious. Or how lit I was in a talent show , I even won best dressed in HS. So I’ve always stood out and I’ve always demanded attention even when I wasn’t trying. A don is a leader. A performer, he’s the guy everyone looks too to learn in someway shape or form & I feel like that’s me. The part that most excites me is me being old enough to understand what’s really happening and being able to understand the changes even the small ones as I grow as an all around artist. Life was never easy I mean I’ve been through some real lows & I think that’s what makes me , me. When you look at DeejayDaDon I want you to relate. Relate to my fashion, relate to my music, relate to my blackness, relate to my creativity & detail.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
See that’s a good question because although I know a lot of places I never rlly know where to go. Good thing me & my homies like to chill, vibe or take trips. I’m really a loner. People have never flocked to me idk what it is but since a kid I’ve stuck to myself. Always been known but known to be chill. I don’t do too much unless I’m comfortable and I can count my true friends on 1 hand. We always down for a good bite to eat , Airbnb & when it come to night life if it’s not a section we’ll pass. I flock to ppl who are like me or like the same things as me. So unless you one of them you’ll never know me know me. Everything I put out is calculated.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God first and foremost. Who are we without him. Secondly my moms, that lady right there is a solidified solder & there’s no way I’d be the man I am today without her. With my father doing 20+ years in the penitentiary she never let that stop her & I’ll forever salute her. Outside of that many different creatives
