We had the good fortune of connecting with Delara Shirvani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought of starting my own business was just the scariest thing! I was scared of failure and disappointing my self. I wasn’t sure if I even had confidence to become an entrepreneur. With all the courage I could find within my self I decided to start Shop Vani in 2020. I started in my mom’s extra master bedroom closet haha. I think I started with 5-6 pieces of clothing. At the time thats all the inventory I could afford and even had space for. I remember storing my inventory in my mom’s guest bedroom. Little by little I felt more confidence in taking more risks for Shop Vani. The more confidence I started to build the better my business started to do. I had plenty of failures, don’t get me wrong! Those failures had to happen for me to build my business to where it is today. A lot of the times in the beginning my negative thoughts would take over my mind and it would effect Shop Vani. Fighting those negative thoughts and building something from nothing is one of the biggest accomplishments of my life to this day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Shop Vani is unique for many different reasons but what stands out about us is our chic style and affordable prices. All our pieces have their own unique story. Our goal is for women to feel confident and powerful when they put on a Shop Vani piece without breaking their bank accounts. When you feel confident you will allow yourself to conquer your day the best way you can! I have loved fashion since I was a little girl. My mom use to have her own boutique and take me to work with her. I would hangout in her little fitting room while she would sell her heart out! I always felt like fashion was something I could see my self making a life out of but it always felt like a dream that couldn’t become my reality. I went to college and studied science. My plan wasn’t to own a clothing boutique. I could have taken the 9-5 job but I decided that’s boring. I wanted to do more and be more! With all the challenges Shop Vani came with and still comes with. I wouldn’t ever change it for anything else. All the lessons I have learned along the way I think the biggest one is that failure is success. The lessons I have learned have helped me not only build my business to be better but those lessons have built me to be better for my self in a lot of ways. To whom ever is taking time out of their day to read this I want you to know that you can do whatever you put your mind to and that Shop Vani is here for you if you are looking for a chic but affordable outfit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shop Vani wouldn’t be the business it is today without my mom, Sharareh Shirvani. She helped me build this business from day one and always encouraged me to move forward even on the days I felt like giving up. She is a women that has built her self and businesses since she was a young adult. She has given me so much knowledge on how to be a successful entrepreneur. She has supported Shop Vani through thick and thin. I don’t see my business being where it is today without my mom. She plays a huge roll in the success it has had. She believed in me when I didn’t believe in my self. I owe her so much for this!
