We had the good fortune of connecting with Destinee Cordova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destinee, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am born and raised in Houston, Texas. I believe I come from a family full of visionaries and go getters. Always exercising our creativity when it comes to visual arts, event planning and entrepreneurship. Growing up, I’ve always had a strong infatuation with creative directing and today I use that in my love for digital creation. Passionate about producing social media content for businesses, individuals and myself of course! Picturing ideas that I have in my mind for projects is so exciting and fulfilling when I see it come to light through the lens of my camera.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I taught myself how to use photo and video editing programs at an early age. I first got serious about digital creation when I was in high school and wanted to create videos on YouTube. I uploaded fun/random content that didn’t necessarily have a goal, but just did it for my own entertainment. A year after I started college, I gained a huge following (300,000 subscribers was a big deal back in 2017) and it hit me that this is what I loved to do. I ended up deleting all my videos on my YouTube channel, because I wanted to go in a different direction with my brand. I took my passion for creating content for myself and used that knowledge to help others in achieving their personal and professional goals. It wasn’t an overnight idea to use what I learned as a tool for others, but it’s interesting to see how people knew I did videos on YouTube and wanted me to create projects for them. It slowly became an idea of turning my abilities into something that I could do as a career and really ran with it at the start of 2019.

The biggest challenge for me in the beginning was distraction and toxic relationships. At times, I surrounded myself with people who weren’t good for my life and it took a toll on my creativity and mental state. It became really hard to think what was best for myself and do the things that I set out to do. After rededicating my life to Christ, God has really given me the clarify and strength I needed. The more I grew my relationship with Jesus the more I saw clearly the plan He has for my future. There were just so many stepping stones to get to where I am today and I know there are many more still to come. I’m constantly growing, learning and challenging myself with new ideas and I’m always excited to see what the next chapter holds!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man…I am constantly finding new places in Houston that I never knew existed! But if I had a best friend who was visiting the area, I guess it would be a crime to not show them the Houston Museum District. Also, a trip to Hermann or Buffalo Bayou Park is a must for a nice bike ride along the trails. They would for sure need to be dragged to Franks Pizza for a nice big slice of greasy delicious goodness. And if they’ve never been, we would for sure have to hit up the Galleria and the hundreds of stores there to window shop til we drop (literally). At some point of there visitation it would also be required to go bowling and skating, because that’s just something I’ve always enjoyed doing growing up!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Early on in my career, I was struggling with severe mental illness that was taking a toll on my ability to focus and push myself to work hard. There have been many times in my journey when I wasn’t feeling motivated or inspired to put myself out there and give my everything to what I am passionate about. .But the Lord has really showed me patience, kindness and love that helped me persevere through certain events that were happening in my personal life and achieve goals that I set out in my professional life. I have to give all the glory to God, because HE IS GOOD!
