Today we’re excited to be connecting with Devron Smith again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Devron, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
My name is Devron Smith, and I’m the founder of AKA Cinematic, a videography company specializing in cinematic shots and storytelling through video. My journey began as an engineer with a passion for music—I was singing, rapping, and producing. Through my friend and partner, Ves Visuals, I discovered my love for videography while working as a Director of Photography for Ves Visuals, LLC.

Over time, I honed my craft and launched my own company, focusing on branding videos for businesses, real estate, music videos, and content creation. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of capturing moments with Baton Rouge artists Maine Musik and Tec, as well as New Orleans Bounce artist ReUp Reedy. What sets me apart is my ability to combine cinematic visuals with compelling storytelling, helping clients bring their visions to life.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Since our last conversation, things have been moving in exciting directions! I’ve been refining my skills, growing my portfolio, and building new connections through AKA Cinematic. One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been expanding into different areas of videography while staying true to my love for cinematic storytelling.

Recently, I’ve been diving deeper into real estate videography, creating visually captivating property showcases. It’s been fulfilling to help realtors bring their listings to life in a way that grabs attention and tells a story. On the music video front, I’ve had the chance to work with some incredible artists and continue developing my creative vision. It’s an amazing experience, and it’s always inspiring to collaborate with artists who bring so much energy and passion to the table.

Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Balancing the creative and business aspects of running a company has been a challenge, but it’s also been a great learning experience. I’ve been focusing on streamlining my workflow, improving client communication, and exploring new ways to market my services, especially in the real estate and branding sectors.

Right now, I’m most excited about continuing to grow AKA Cinematic. I’m exploring new ideas for content creation, including event recaps, personal branding videos, and even experimental short films to push my creative limits. I’m also working on upgrading my equipment and expanding my team to take on larger projects and deliver even higher-quality results.

Overall, it’s been a journey of growth, creativity, and persistence. I’m looking forward to seeing where the next chapters take me and sharing the journey along the way.

Alright, so let’s do something a bit more fast-paced and lighthearted. We call this our lightning round and we’ll ask you a few quick questions.
