We had the good fortune of connecting with Deziree Propes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deziree, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“If it was easy everyone would be lined up to do it!” This quote helps me realize that my journey of being a business owner is not for the faint hearted, and that hard work and dedication pays off for those who work for it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a lifestyle and portrait photographer. My business is centered around the clients need for photography. I believe what sets me apart from other photographers is the ability to focus on one client at a time, never rushing , or putting off my clients- meaning I am easily able to be reached and I work for my client- there time is valuable and appreciated. How I got where I am today is by believing in myself and continually working on bettering my craft for future clients to come. I am my biggest cheerleader. I strive to be better than the best out there. It is important for me to offer affordable services , because those are the clients that stuck around for the long haul- they grew with me as my craft matured into what it is today. This journey will always be difficult because I am a wife, a mother, and athletic trainer for a competitive district in Galena Park ISD ; and most importantly a business owner. I am constantly wearing different hats to provide different needs to everyone that needs a specific skill from me. I am still overcoming challenges with my business that I can only overcome with experiences- because it is never a loss only a lesson. Lessons that I’ve learned would be that don’t bite off more than you can chew. I want the world to know that my brand is who I am and that is – outgoing, fun, caring and serious.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Midtown Houston is always my go too. To see the city from Buffalo Bayou is so amazing at sunset. Also to go to the BLCK Market on every first Friday and second Saturday is always a vibe. My absolute favorite place to eat is Mikki’s Cafe off of W. Bellfort. I typically try to find events to go to, just to see the different people Houston has to offer. Because Houston is so beautiful and the people in the city as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I follow a plethora of established and well known photographers in the Houston area, but more recently I invested in my craft by studying with Colordujour Photography. I am inspired by his style of shooting. I work to have a portfolio that mirrors his work , but of course with my own flare and style.
