We had the good fortune of connecting with Donald Gaines and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donald, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always had a vision for being creative by doing interior decorating on my own home so I decided to take my vison and make it my own.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Interior Design. I am most proud of myself for stepping up and bringing my vison and passion for decorating to life. This was not an easy process to start up my business. I had some challenges such as self doubt and failing however, I had to keep pushing and put myself out there to keep myself motivated. Some of the lessons I learned along the way is to be patient and always trust the process. I want the world to know that you can bring anything you see to life that you enjoy doing and always look for those creative signs that pop up in your mind along your journey.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friend to the midtown area of Houston. There are a lot of restaurants, bars and a lot to sight see. It sort of feels like another city outside of the city. I would definitely eat at Pub Fiction for some lite bites and lunch and a nice dinner at Brennan’s of Houston. For a nice brunch we would definitely check out The Breakfast Klub. For a nice hang out we would tackle Wonder Bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely like to dedicate my shoutout to my awesome friends and my web designer Candice Lovett for designing my business website. Without them, this process would have been a bit slower for me to get my business started so I appreciate their motivation and support.
