We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Danielle Corbie Archey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, initially, I just wanted to do professional development with special education teachers.. so I presented at teacher conferences, including the NAME conference in Tennessee, the National Literacy Institute Mega Conference in Houston and at TABSE in Galveston. My workshops were generating positive feedback, so I began offering workshops for a fraction of the average conference registration. They more qualitative and teachers really get an opportunity to learn and work on their craft.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me and my business apart is my extensive expertise in special education, spanning over 30 years in various educational settings and grade levels. My deep understanding of special education law, coupled with strategies tailored to students with diverse disabilities, allows me to effectively support students and teachers unique needs. From diagnosing students to identifying areas of strength and growth, I bring a personalized touch to my work. Moreover, my commitment goes beyond business; it’s driven by a profound passion for education and a desire to foster equity for marginalized student groups. This personal investment sets me apart, ensuring that every aspect of my business is infused with genuine care and dedication to making a difference in the lives of those I serve.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Houston, Texas, there are several places that I absolutely love and with a great blend of education and fun. One such destination is the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where people can explore interactive exhibits on topics ranging from space exploration to ancient civilizations. Another great spot is the Space Center Houston, offering a hands-on experience that educates and entertains visitors about space travel and NASA’s groundbreaking missions. Lastly, the Children’s Museum of Houston is a fantastic choice, providing engaging exhibits and activities designed to inspire curiosity and learning in students of all ages. These places offer an enriching educational experience while ensuring a fun-filled day for everyone.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
. When reflecting on my journey, I am deeply grateful for the profound influence of my parents, who instilled in me the values of hard work, passion, and determination. Their guidance laid the foundation for my success. Additionally, I must acknowledge the invaluable mentorship of Dr. Ingrid Haynes, a renowned education expert whose leadership and expertise have been pivotal in shaping my trajectory.
