We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Les Barrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Les, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started as a minister, I spent an inordinate amount of time in learning how to perform the duties and assignments that were required of me, and learning about the tenets and interpretations of the Bible. Now, I’m trying to incorporate my family more in ministry, by making myself more accessible and by giving family members a more prominent role in the ministry that God has given me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Christian ministry. I am involved in radio and tv advertising, and I produce sermons and songs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Stone Temple Church, 3622 W. Douglas Blvd. Eateries include McArthur’s on Madison avenue, Brothers and Sisters on the southside (Larry knows the info better; I just enjoy the food lol); before the pandemic, I went to the movies quite frequently.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Stone Temple Church, Chicago, where the Pastor is Bishop Derrick Milas Fitzpatrick, THD. I was introduced to our Bishop by my Pastor now Apostle Reshorna M. Fitzpatrick of the Proceeding Word Church, Chicago. Their leadership enabled me to earn a doctorate through the North Carolina Theological Seminary satellite program 5/2/20. My dissertation was an observance of the facts of the spiritual involvement in the development of the universe! I considered the cosmic development, specific points in history, and Man’s stages of life to see the correlations between a supposed masterful plan, which theologians tell us is due to the presence of an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnibenevolent Supreme Being commonly known as God, and facts that are supported by scientific evidence.
