Meet Dulce Turrubiartes | Lash Educator & Mentor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dulce Turrubiartes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dulce, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to leave a meaningful legacy by teaching and inspiring others. I want to share the knowledge and skills I’ve gained throughout my career to empower people of all ages to believe in themselves and reach their full potential. What makes this goal even more significant to me is that I’ve been able to achieve it through my own efforts—servicing clients and building my career from the ground up, without financial support from my family or even a pat on the back. My family didn’t have much, but they did what they could. Growing up, I was surrounded by negative beliefs about being a solo business owner. I knew I couldn’t continue living like that. I couldn’t let my younger self down; we had big dreams to fight for, and I couldn’t let those dreams be stopped just because my family or friends had a different mindset.
When I was little, I always felt I was meant to do great things. That’s why I wanted more for myself—to break the cycle and create generational wealth. If you feel the same way, I get you.
I didn’t start receiving support or encouragement until I had already built a successful business and established my storefront. Only then did it seem like I had ‘made it.’ This journey has been lonely at times, but it’s shown me the power of perseverance and self-belief. I want to pass that message on to others: you are the one who has to believe in yourself 100%. Without that belief, you won’t grow or make it out.
By the end of my career, I hope to have inspired others to believe that they, too, can create their own path—no matter the challenges they face.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my commitment to providing an experience, not just a service. I truly believe that art is about connection and creating an atmosphere where my clients feel valued, heard, and inspired. I love to share my knowledge and expertise with others, whether it’s through the work I do or by guiding others in their own journeys. For me, it’s about more than just the final result—it’s about the transformation that happens along the way. I want every client to feel empowered and confident, knowing they’ve had an experience that’s as meaningful as the outcome.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built together at Her Sweet Studio. Over the years, we’ve seen clients come and go—whether they’ve moved, had babies, or gone through personal challenges—but they will always be part of the Her Sweet community. That kind of loyalty and connection is priceless to me. It’s not just about the business; it’s about the relationships and trust we’ve built. That’s what keeps me motivated to strive to find the latest trend or product.
Getting to where I am today was far from easy. There were so many moments of doubt, exhaustion, and uncertainty, where I questioned if I could continue. I didn’t have a clear roadmap or a safety net—no family wealth or built-in support. Everything I’ve built has come from sheer determination and hard work, figuring things out one step at a time. But through each challenge, I learned to trust myself, even when it felt impossible. There were definitely moments when I thought about giving up, but I always came back to the reason I started: to create something meaningful, something that would positively impact others and create change for myself and future generations.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is the power of perseverance and the importance of having a support system. In the beginning, I was nervous to trust and ask for help, but I’ve realized that mentorship and feedback are essential to growth. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who have helped me push through my fears and doubts. I’ve also learned that growth doesn’t happen in isolation—being open to feedback, and even failure, has been key to my progress. Every setback has been an opportunity to learn and grow, and I embrace those moments now as part of the process. Don’t forget to Enjoy the process where you’re in your career and celebrate those wins too!
What I want the world to know about Her Sweet Studio is that it’s more than just a cute beauty salon & academy—it’s a place where people can truly believe in themselves. It’s a space where dreams are nurtured, and where people are encouraged to become the best versions of themselves. My story is one of resilience, determination, and passion, and I want others to know that no matter where you come from or what challenges you face, you can create something beautiful. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that with courage, perseverance, and staying true to your values, anything is possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most mornings will be cozy at a cafe to unwind. Explore Teso Life for Japanese snacks and fun finds. Later Visit Katy Asian Town for shopping and bubble tea. I for sure would vote towards having a Fun evening at a karaoke bar one of the days of the week. I’m a homebody so I don’t go to bars often but I would always suggest food or rest days.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh man! where do I start? This shout-out really brings me so much joy and excitement, and I’m happy to share it. Through all the challenges and tough moments I’ve faced, I want to express my gratitude to my husband David. He’s been a rock for me—offering mental support and helping with the day-to-day tasks at home. I know he works hard, and I don’t always expect him to pitch in when it comes to things like building furniture for the salon. That’s when I have to step into ‘girl boss’ mode and hire help! But his support, both in my business and personally, has been invaluable. I truly couldn’t have grown without his strength, patience, and his unwavering ability to listen and make me feel safe enough to talk about all the ups and downs of running a business.
I also want to thank my mentor, Mitsy, who has been instrumental in shaping me into the business owner I am today. She has helped me work through all my overthinking and emotional hurdles, and she’s guided me in breaking through old barriers to become the person I needed to be for my business. All the podcasts and books I’ve read couldn’t offer the real, actionable feedback I needed to reflect, grow, and make meaningful change. Feedback really is the best medicine for personal and professional growth, and Mitsy’s guidance has been a pivotal part of that.
Last but not least I want to take a moment to thank my clients who have truly shaped Her Sweet Studio into what it is today. Whether you’ve moved away, had a baby, gotten married, or gone through life’s changes, you’re still a part of our community. We’ve built this together over the years, and I am so grateful for each one of you. Thank you for respecting me and my business. I know that policies can sometimes feel like a lot, but if you’ve stuck with me, I truly appreciate it. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all of you. To all my past and current clients—you’re the MVPs who make this shop shine, and you absolutely deserve a huge shout-out for being such an important part of this journey.
Thank you so much David, Mitsy and the Her Sweet Community!
