Meet Eileen Borski

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eileen Borski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eileen, every day, we know how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The inspiration for my business started when I was studying for my Master’s in Business Administration. My professor approached me about a research paper I wrote for a finance class, and asked if I wanted to pursue publishing it in a finance journal. Little did I know that would start me down the path towards pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health. The finance journal article added me to an email list of various academic journals, including those focused on mental health topics. I started reading more and more about mental health and realized supporting others with their mental health was my calling. So I leaned in, trusted my gut, and switched from a successful career in finance for large multi-national corporations to sitting in a classroom in my 40s studying theories of counseling. As I grew in my understanding of human behavior and techniques to support change, I knew I had found my groove. In addition, I developed a desire to understand the brain and leaned in again, focusing on creating a specialty in neurocounseling. Neurocounseling is an approach that integrates neuroscience with counseling, utilizing brain-based techniques to promote healing and well-being. In particular, in my practice, I focus on mindfulness, IASIS microcurrent neurofeedback, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with clients, who report achieving their goals more quickly and with greater sustainability.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career path has been both unconventional and deeply rewarding. Before becoming a licensed professional counselor and entrepreneur, I spent over 25 years in corporate America, primarily in finance. On the surface, finance and therapy may seem unrelated—but in reality, that chapter of my life laid the foundation for everything I do today. In high-pressure environments, I learned to listen deeply, communicate clearly, and think critically—skills that have become cornerstones of my counseling work.
Transitioning careers wasn’t easy. Like many people who make major life changes, I wrestled with fear, imposter syndrome, and uncertainty. But I also discovered something powerful: when you align your choices in life with your purpose, resilience follows. Every challenge became fuel for growth. Along side the technical knowledge of the connection of counseling and neuroscience. this personal understanding and experience of growth allows me to uniquely support each client’s growth goals.
Another characteristic that sets me apart is this unique blend of business acumen and clinical expertise. I understand the stressors professionals face, because I’ve lived them. Moreover, I understand the stressors families face, because I have lived them. That insight allows me to meet clients where they are—with empathy, but also with the tools to help them move forward.
I’m especially proud of the way my love of learning has shaped my practice. I constantly seek out cutting-edge approaches in mental health—like neurocounseling, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), and IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback—so I can offer my clients more than just talk therapy. My love for learning inspired me to pursue my Masters degreee in Clinical Mental health, and to continue with advanced education and certifications in both EMDR and IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. At Authentic Brain Solutions, I specialize in whole-brain, whole-person care. Whether someone is struggling with trauma, chronic stress, brain fog, anxiety, depression, ADHD or executive burnout, I provide tools that are evidence-informed, forward-thinking, and tailored to their unique goals.
My hope is that people come to see mental wellness not as a luxury, but as a vital part of living fully and authentically. I want the world to know that lasting change is possible—and that the brain has an incredible capacity to heal, adapt, and thrive when given the right support.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When a friend or family member comes to visit, I love curating a week-long adventure that captures the spirit, flavor, and diversity of the Greater Houston area. From lakeside mornings to beachside evenings, here’s my go-to itinerary for showing off the region’s charm.
Day 1: Lakeside Welcome on Lake Conroe
We’d kick off the visit with a relaxing brunch at Monty’s Lighthouse on Lake Conroe (https://montyslighthouse.com/). The gourmet avocado toast is a favorite, and I always recommend pairing it with the Café du Monty—a warm beignet with espresso. Afterward, we’d take a walk by the lake or rent a paddleboard to soak up some sun before heading home for dinner and some time by the family pool and to get ready for tomorrow’s adventures.
Day 2: Houston’s Museum District & Cultural Gems
Next, we’d head down I-45 into the heart of Houston’s Museum District. A must-see is the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (https://www.mfah.org/), where I never miss the Latin American, European, and Asian art collections. We’d make time to browse the MFAH Shop (https://mfashop.mfah.org/) for one-of-a-kind gifts, jewelry, art books, and more.
Lunch would be at Niko Niko’s in Montrose (https://nikonikos.com/locations/montrose)—a cozy Greek and American café with plenty of gluten-free and vegan options. After lunch, a stroll through the University of St. Thomas meditation garden and labyrinth (https://www.stthom.edu) offers the perfect mid-afternoon wind-down. Again, it’s time to head home for some time by the pool and to get ready for more adventures.
Day 3: Art, Coffee & Urban Exploration
We’d spend this day getting a feel for Houston’s unique neighborhoods. We start our day with coffee and art at Agora in Montrose, followed by a visit to The Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel, both of which offer a profoundly peaceful and visually striking experience. Later, we’d head to Rice Village for some boutique shopping and people-watching.
Dinner? A must-visit is the original Ninfa’s (https://ninfas.com), where you are served “The best Mexican food in Texas since Texas was in Mexico™” After dinner, we’ll head to one of the many available hotels in Houston for some well-deserved rest to put our feet up and watch a movie.
Day 4–6: Galveston Getaway
A road trip to Galveston is the perfect mini escape. We’d check into the elegant and historic Grand Galvez (https://grandgalvez.com) and spend the afternoons by the pool, enjoying light snacks and good conversation.
I’d make sure we go to Sunday brunch at the Grand Galvez. The brunch is a highlight—lavish, coastal, and endlessly delicious. After brunch, we’d hit the beach or explore the Galveston art galleries (https://www.visitgalveston.com/things-to-do/arts-culture/art-galleries/). In addition, we would take time to wander The Strand for antiques, ice cream, and local charm.
Day 7: Farewell Feast & Wind-Down
On the drive home, we’d stop at Pappas’ BBQ in The Woodlands (https://pappasbbq.com) for authentic Texas barbecue—brisket, ribs, and all the fixings. We’d wrap up the week at home with a small backyard bonfire, a glass of wine, and stories from the week that remind us how rich the Houston area is with culture, cuisine, and community.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t think of anyone more deserving of recognition than my husband, Jeff. He has been the steady foundation behind every leap I’ve taken—cheering me on through each chapter, transition, and reinvention. As a lifelong learner, I’ve spent decades immersed in graduate programs, certifications, and advanced training. Whether it was returning to school (again), shifting career paths, or launching and growing my own business, Jeff has shown up with unwavering support—never once hesitating, even when the cost, timing, or changes to our family rhythms required sacrifices on his part.
Over the 38 years of our marriage, we’ve navigated life hand-in-hand: raising and launching our two exceptional children, Elizabeth and Evan, while also encouraging one another to pursue our individual callings. And Jeff has certainly followed his own. After more than five years of formation and seminary, he was ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church. His ministry—particularly to incarcerated men and to the community of Sacred Heart in Conroe, Texas—continues to inspire me daily. He lives out his faith with commitment and strength, offering spiritual guidance and compassion to so many.
Today, one of his most joyful roles is being “Poppy” to our grandson, Wilson. Seeing him love and lead across so many seasons of life—with purpose and grace—reminds me that none of us succeed alone. Behind every achievement in my story is a partner who believed in me without hesitation. Jeff deserves a shoutout not just for supporting my dreams, but for walking beside me as I made them real.
