We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Having a creative heart is such a beautiful feeling. For many years now, crafting was my hobby. Working fulltime in medical offices for over 20 years and being a mom of 5, that was my “me time”. It all started with my niece’s 2nd birthday, I helped my sister create her party centerpieces. Shortly after, with the help of my mom and my sister we made my baby shower for my first child. We made all the decorations and I made my own mum. Ever since, I knew that was my passion. I’ve designed all my children’s parties. I created all their party decorations from invites, centerpieces, piñatas, goodie bags, treats, baptisms, halloween costumes and even my first son’s graduation decor. Over the years I created a lot of party arrangements for close family and friends. They’d suggest for me to create for others or even open my own business. I was afraid to lose the love I had for crafting, I didn’t want to burn or stress myself out if I did.

My response would be one day when God knows the time is right and when I’m ready. Well he works and answers prayers in mysterious ways! Having so many signs and him opening so many doors, I finally decided it’s time! As of August 2019, I took a huge leap of faith and expanded my creativity to others publicly. It was the best decision I’ve ever made!  Trust me it hasn’t been easy, it has its ups and downs. There’s been many obstacles that I’ve endured and have overcome. I thought, yes, 2020 is going to be an amazing year. New year, new beginnings, new challenges. Then being laid off around the beginning of the pandemic was really hard; but I’ve made it and I wouldn’t change any of it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My favorite phrase is “Let the beauty of what you love, be what you do” ~by Rumi.

It’s hard for me to just focus on only one thing; I enjoy the beauty of creation. Creativity is the key to success! I love creating just about everything. I design party décor. I call it “One Stop Party Shop”. I make party favors such as cake toppers, piñatas, goodie bags, centerpieces, decals, quince, balloon bouquets, balloon garlands, mums, banners and more. Not only do I create party favors, I’m also a party planner. I can décor the whole event for you.

I love children’s parties the most, they are so colorful, fun and there’s so many options to choose from. I enjoy baby showers they’re heart warming and are so adorable.

Having family and close friends that truly believe and admire your work is unbelievable! Word by mouth is the best advertisement. I’ve had many referrals. It’s amazing. One of my biggest clients is my best friend’s sister that I call “My Sis”, she has been my biggest fan for many years. I’ve created so many things for her and her family! Now I’ve had the honor to plan her daughter’s first baby shower. I’m so excited, overjoyed and just can’t wait to create her an amazing event!

I’m so proud of myself for continuing to do what I LOVE and never give up on myself. I take all these blessings and I share with others. My party décor has been growing this past year and I wanted to offer so much more. I recently took a bigger leap and decided to expand my business into two.

There’s so much competition in this field and there’s many great artist out there but there’s only one of you. Be the light for someone’s darkness! My mom was my big inspiration, I’ve learned that no matter how hard your road gets, you keep going. If there’s a will there’s a way. Don’t let no one stop you! What I always say is, I feel as women/others we should all empower each other and share what we love and do. Encourage one another and build each other up not bring you down. Always find a way and never stop trying. (You be it be about it and don’t let your own insecurities stop you~Beyonce) Never stop, keep going, hard work does pays off!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You know Houston is so big and there’s so many things to do. But it’s hard to say because I don’t really go out. Most of our off time we make it family time at my in-law’s ranch. I know, I know Houston has many things to do; it’s remarkable. Maybe that will be my new year’s resolution, to explore more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Wow! First and foremost of course my Lord and savior he has opened so many doors and prayers. He knew what obstacles I could and couldn’t handle.

Next, my husband even when he wasn’t on board at first because he knows me to well. He would tell me “Only you know, give it a shot you won’t know unless you try it”. He’s been by my side since day one, after long work days, I would spend sleepless nights and weekends crafting. He’s never told me to stop doing what I love. He is my builder, handy man, carpenter and my go to for anything. Deep down he is my huge supporter even if he doubted it at times. He’s even built me my own Craft Shed it’s amazing!

Then there’s my dad, he is my huge encourager. Growing up he’s taught us to be brave, follow our dreams, do what we love and never depend on no one. His encouraging words “Go for It”. If you need anything you know I’m here for you! Also my sister’s, they have shown me that no matter how hard time and things gets, together we will overcome it all!

Lastly my children they are my motivators, my HUGE supporters and my biggest critics! The love they express for all my works and even for my ugliest work is priceless. Everything I do; I do for them.
