We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Quiroz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As I saw myself approaching “The Big 50”, I realized that it was a good time to begin planning for a new beginning. I would eventually like to retire from my day-to-day job to fully focus on owning my business. Many people retire and don’t know what to do afterwards. I thought through numerous opportunities and opening our own business to do what we love, sounded like the best option for my husband and me. “The Drinking Spot” is what makes us happy and allows us to do what we like – making people smile!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From Monday to Friday I am an Executive Assistant for a hospital, and during the weekend I am promoting and running my own business “The Drinking Spot”; socializing with customers, making fabulous Micheladas and Mangonadas – but the best part is making people happy.

I am always personable with my customers and able to connect with each and every one of them. What excites me the most and makes me the most proud, is when I see a returning costumer who tells me that they are here just for one of my FUN drinks!

Reaching this point in my career was not easy but with lots of hard work, building and maintaining relationships, and continuous support from my husband, I am working towards my dream of being at The Drinking Spot full-time.

I have learned that you can do anything that you set your mind to. My goal was getting that TABC license. This process took extensive research, where I learned that I was able to do it on my own for a significantly lower price and just took a few months.

My passion is to make people happy! I want them to know that when you stop by The Drinking Spot, you will not only get a delicious drink, but a place with a welcoming environment at a great place to shop.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My absolute favorite local places include Lake Conroe, Tomball Town, Galveston or Kemah for lots of great history, Thistle Draft house, Tapped, Fortress Beer, Loose Caboose, Wunsche Bros Café Saloon Jax Burgers for food and a great beer, Drunken Oysters for the best seafood, Chilas for Mexican food, and finally, definitely Old Town Spring and local Boutiques for the best shopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out my sister and her husband; they have always been an inspiration to me! Their success in life has always been inspiring. She has always encourage me to open my own business and to reach for the stars. Additionally, I would definitely shout out my husband who has always supported me and has been by my side for 30 years, with my 2 amazing daughters Ashley, with her amazing creative talent, and Nicole, with the excellent social media skills. I couldn’t be where am at without them all.
