We had the good fortune of connecting with Ellenah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ellenah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up, i was constantly surrounded by music. My grandmother sang in a church choir and my mom pursued a career in it in the 90’s. My dad weirdly enough had a great ear for music and later became her sound engineer when they started their band. I feel like i had access to lots of outlets on learning everything about the industry. I would watch and study stage presence, sound clarity, performance’s and most of all the production behind it. I knew if the beat wasn’t catchy, the audience would lose interest quickly. Anyone can have a great voice but if the production behind it isn’t attention worthy, you lose your engagement. One day while my dad was setting up sound check for my mom, he asked if would be willing to go test the mic. This was such a weird yet pivotal moment for me because it was in that moment that i would be introduced to a different type of sound. I remember the princess diaries had just come out on DVD and i was obsessed with ‘SuperGirl’ by Krystal Harris. I got up there, and immediately got stuck. I remember looking over at him and he said “Its just me and you, no one is going to hear you.” I took a deep breath and started singing- That was the moment i realized this is what i want to do. I forgot all about what was happening and just sang. it wasn’t until i became an adult that i knew i loved the production process as well, how beats are made, how music is layered and what all goes into it. Songwriting has always been easier for me because i journaled a lot as a kid, it just took figuring out how to get those words into the structure of a song.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i feel like what sets me apart is my ability to take personal experiences, whether mine or those around me and turn them into something people can deeply relate to. i don’t just write love songs; i write about struggle, resilience, and the things we don’t always say out loud. my EP, ‘SCORPIO’ really pushed me out of my comfort zone, both emotionally and sonically, and i’m most proud of how honest and fearless i allowed myself to be with my music.

But, getting to this point hasn’t been easy. navigating the industry as an independent artist means wearing a lot of hats. songwriter, performer, marketer, and everything in between. i’ve faced doubt, financial hurdles, and moments where i questioned if i was on the right path. but every challenge has reinforced my belief that this is what i’m meant to do. i’ve learned that consistency, adaptability, and trusting my vision are key. no one is going to believe in your art more than you do, so you have to show up for yourself every single day. I owe a lot to my producer Wyndigo as well, he made the EP everything i could’ve wanted. He had the patience to deal with my identity struggles and which parts of my life I wanted to showcase in this project.

more than anything, i want the world to know that i’m just getting started. my music isn’t just about me—it’s about creating something that resonates with people who’ve felt overlooked, unheard, or misunderstood. i want to bring my stories to bigger stages, connect with people on a deeper level, and continue growing as an artist. this journey is a long wild ride, but i’m ready for all of it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most definitely. Had it not been for the pivotal moment my dad asked me to go up and sound check for him, I probably would’ve never attempted this fun, crazy career. Any piece of art i’ve ever put out has always gone through his ears first. I appreciate the feedback and questions he’s always asked me. Even during the process of creating my EP, it was constant calls, and asking for updates on how it was going. He’s never failed to remind me that this career is for me, and to just keep pushing.
Biggest of all would be my partner and best friend Sav. She took my story, my childhood and listened deeply and turned everything i ever wanted into a reality. It was only because of her that my ambitions became everyday life. She keeps me grounded in ways one cannot describe. She reminds me that things can be messy and become overwhelming but it’s ok because i have her. I was working two different jobs before she came in and one day she said “quit it all and focus on what you truly want.” so i did, and now here i am making art every single day and being a mom with her- and i couldn’t have asked for anything more.
