Hi E’Lona (Lona), we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was addicted to fast money. I got into some trouble and was incarcerated for a while. While incarcerated I knew I couldn’t get out doing the same thing. However I also knew I didn’t want to work for anyone. That’s when I decided to become an entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Soft Glam Pro MUA. I enjoy making ppl feel good inside and out. Showing kindness and love is my greatest attribute. I’m passionate about makeup it’s my therapy. Each face/canvas I get to escape from my thoughts just a little while and create and experience all while enhancing someone’s beauty.

I got where I am today honestly by perseverance. Trial and error has been my greatest teacher. Only thing different about me and someone who wants to do what I do or have done is that I didn’t quit! I kept going and I “still” keep going.

It’s never easy but it’s worth it! Being a business owner or entrepreneur is tedious. You have to consistently show up even when you don’t feel like it, even when you’re sick, even when your back is up against the wall. You have to believe in yourself even when nothing makes sense or no revenue is coming in.

I overcome current challenges by seeing how far I’ve come. I’m not from HTX I’m from Oakland, CA. I relocated here barely 2yrs ago. I was never suppose to make it this far. I was suppose to sink but instead everyday I’ve chosen to swim! It’s just me and my kids no family, friends, rich bf (lol) or help. Just me, my kids, and God leading us along the way.

I want to let the world know my brand will be a household name (Lord willing). I love what I do, I’m passionate about what I do, and I’m going to continue to do what I do and that’s make women/ppl feel good and look even better through my gift of artistry.

And as far as my story goes… It’s still being written… However…. It’s my story but only for God’s glory!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first take them to Tripple J’s! I love that place lol! I would take them to the HMAAC. Gotta slide thru Emancipation Park. Ofc TSU and UofH.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Special S/O to my cousin Tachetta for prophesying over me that I would indeed do great things with my gift of artistry.

A book that changed my life was “Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren and “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and “Praying Through It” by William Murphy.

My children I would have to say is my reason daily, to push! To go after my dreams. To be resilient. To be honorable. To be wholesome. To maintain integrity and humility. To honor God (Jesus) above all.
