Meet Ema Poi | Event Director & Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ema Poi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ema, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because it allows me to operate where precision meets artistry. I am inherently structured (Type A personality)—drawn to order, flow, efficiency, and detail—yet creativity has always been a constant. My expression has taken many forms since childhood, from freehand illustration to music, movement, and design.
Event planning emerged as a natural alignment. It is a discipline that demands both analytical rigor and creative vision, where execution is as critical as imagination. In this space, ideas are not simply conceived—they are engineered, refined, and realized with intention.
My work is rooted in that balance: thoughtful design, disciplined process, and an uncompromising attention to detail. It allows me to create experiences that are not only visually striking, but purposeful, cohesive, and expertly delivered.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career began in sales and customer experience analytics, where I developed a deep understanding of people, precision, and performance. I learned how to anticipate needs, interpret behavior, and deliver with intention—skills that now define my approach to event design.
What sets me apart is my ability to translate insight into experience. I don’t create for aesthetics alone; I design with strategy. Every element is considered, every detail refined, and every moment engineered to feel seamless and elevated.
The journey was not easy. It required discipline, resilience, and an uncompromising standard of excellence. I learned quickly that exceptional results come from structure, not chance.
At its core, my brand is about more than beautiful events—it is about delivering a level of thoughtfulness, precision, and execution that clients can trust without question.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For my BFF, were doing ALL the things! Ha! We’d start the week easing into the city.
Day 1 (Evening), after settling in, I’d take her to dinner at Willie G’s Seafood around 7:00 PM. It’s polished and welcoming—exactly the kind of place that sets the tone without doing too much. We’d keep the night light and intentional.
Day 2 (Late Morning + Evening) would be all about culture and aesthetics. Around 11:00 AM, we’d head to Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and take our time. Lunch would follow at Le Jardinier around 1:30 PM—refined and beautifully executed. After a break, we’d step out again for cocktails at Brennan’s of Houston around 7:30 PM.
Day 3 (Brunch + Afternoon + Dinner), I’d bring in more energy. Brunch at The Breakfast Klub around 10:30 AM—it’s vibrant and full of personality. By 1:30 PM, we’d shift to Buffalo Bayou Park for a reset. Dinner at Taste Kitchen + Bar around 7:00 PM gives us great food and atmosphere to close the day.
Day 4 (Spa + Dinner) is about slowing everything down. A late morning spa experience at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston around 11:00 AM—calm, detailed, elevated. Then dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse at 7:30 PM—classic and indulgent.
Day 5 (Shopping + Night Out) is dedicated to style. We’d head to The Galleria around 11:30 AM and make a full day of it. Lunch at Fig & Olive around 2:00 PM keeps things light. After resting, we’d step out again around 10:30 PM for a more upbeat night at Clé Houston.
Day 6 (Creative + Dinner), we’d do something immersive. Around 1:00 PM, we’d visit Seismique—it’s bold and visually engaging. Dinner at Kata Robata at 7:00 PM is always a strong, refined close to the day.
Day 7 (Brunch + Wind Down), we’d keep it soft. Brunch at The Little Hen at 11:00 AM—elegant and beautifully styled. Then a slow walk through Hermann Park around 1:30 PM before wrapping up the trip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without hesitation, my shoutout goes to my husband. His support has been both steady and intentional, creating a foundation that allows me to operate at a high level without distraction. He understands the demands of what I do—the long hours, the precision, the mental load—and he meets it with patience, encouragement, and unwavering belief in my vision.
Beyond support, he brings perspective. He challenges me when necessary, grounds me when things feel intense, and celebrates the wins without minimizing the work it takes to get there. That balance has been invaluable.
There is a level of confidence required to build something with excellence, and having someone in your corner who genuinely sees you—and supports you without condition—makes that pursuit sustainable. He is, without question, a meaningful part of my story.
