We had the good fortune of connecting with Enrique Arriens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Enrique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We saw the opportunity to create a profitable business that would also allow us to be present in raising our children, and that’s what drove us to embark on this entrepreneurial adventure in the world of pets. We arrived in Costa Rica in 2012 in search of a better quality of life for our family. A friend gave us the idea of creating a pet hotel from home. This idea would allow us to not only remain financially stable but also enjoy flexibility and family closeness while we build our business. Our children grew up surrounded by the unconditional love of dogs. From an early age, they learned important values such as compassion, patience, kindness, responsibility, and respect towards pets. The constant presence of our furry friends not only enriched their lives but also contributed to their personal and emotional development. Through daily interaction with pets, they learned to care for and value animals, developing empathy and understanding towards the needs of other living beings

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pets Tribe is more than just a mobile grooming service; It is a place where we care for and pamper pets as if they were our own children. Actually when we started we didn’t know anything about pets, we didn’t even have one at that time. But we had a 1 and a half year old son and were expecting our second child. So we are inspired by them to provide a service to pets and their owners, understanding that they are as important as their own children.

We are Venezuelans who migrated to Costa Rica in 2012. That same year, we ventured into the pet business with a boarding facility called ‘PerruTribu.’ The idea stemmed from a friend who ran a mobile grooming business and suggested that we could start from home. In 2021, we arrived in the United States and faced the challenge of starting anew. Thus, we established PetsTribe Mobile Grooming, even though our primary experience had been in boarding and daycare.

Some habits that I believe have helped me overcome obstacles and succeed include perseverance, adaptability, and a constant search for learning and improvement. Adaptability has allowed me to adapt to changes in the business environment and find creative solutions to problems. problems, while the constant search for learning has allowed me to stay updated and continually improve my skills and knowledge.

I believe that risk and failure are great teachers in our learning process. We need to take calculated risks, and if we fail, we must learn the lessons to become more equipped and prepared for the next challenge. Many of my most rewarding achievements have come from moments in which I ventured outside my comfort zone. Despite facing fear, I pushed through, believing it was possible

One of the most important lessons that my business and career have taught me is the importance of adaptability and responsiveness to change. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that flexibility and the ability to effectively respond to unexpected challenges are key to maintaining relevance and competitiveness in the market. Additionally, I’ve also learned the importance of maintaining a mindset of continuous learning and being open to new ideas and approaches.

From the beginning, we have had the vision of growing the Pets Tribe brand until it becomes a replicable business model. We want other families to be able to have the same profitable business with quality of family life

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Just recently, we had the visit of some good friends who came from Miami to celebrate their daughter’s 7th birthday, and she had the dream of traveling by plane. On the first day, we took them to La Centerra, and then we went to Kemah. We enjoyed some delicious steaks and bread rolls at Texas Roadhouse. Another day, they visited NASA and were amazed, and on Sunday, we went to the largest church where they had the chance to meet the head pastors, so they left very happy

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, to God who has been our rock, to my wife Suje Hernandez who has supported me unconditionally, my son Enrique, my daughter Stefany and our furry daughter Marci, who have been the inspiration to provide exceptional service thinking about pets as beloved children.
