We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica D. Montgomery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica D., what makes you happy? Why?
Honestly, this question is a no brainer for me. Every day I’m graced to walk in purpose is happiness for me. It brings me complete joy living each day to positively impact the lives of others. I wake up praying for strategy to change the trajectory of someone’s life. It’s passion for me! It’s purpose for me! It’s JOY for me!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a business owner, creative, and influencer, I have learned over time that in order to be successful it requires prayer, consistent work, creativity, and innovation. When I started my first business, spoke on a platform, or came forth with an idea to positively impact the lives of people I had little experience. A lot of what I learned was trial and error but I was determined to carry out the vision I had for success in everything I put my hands to. There were many challenges. Once I learned the strategies of my competitor’s things leveled out. One key strategy to overcome challenges in any field is to evaluate what has worked for others and what hasn’t. I’ve learned many valuable lessons as a business owner, creative, and influencer, I’ve learned that there will always be a demand for your brand, product, and or business if you can relate to your audience’s passions and interests, consistency, to keep showing up even when things aren’t as you planned and to be authentic. People are likely to gravitate to what’s true and authentic. If I could relate to the world anything it would be to build your brand to resemble your authentic self. Leave a trace of who you were created to be in all that you do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been a Houstonian my ENTIRE life! I’m by nature a homebody but overtime I have fallen in love with the city of Pearland. Pearland is a beautiful place for anyone to visit. It’s a place with beautiful parks, shopping, and delicious eateries. Our favorite hangout and eatery is Center Court Pizza. We enjoy visiting Pearland Town Center for shopping and visiting Kid N’ Play with the children. There is something to do for all ages.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mentorship is extremely important to me. I’ve had two influential women in my life Barbara Heslep and Delcencia T. Hill. I met these two women in my early teens and today I pay homage to them both. These two women taught me the importance of giving back and being a voice of influence for others through business endeavors and building personal relationships. I wouldn’t be half the woman I am without their consistency, mentorship, and wisdom.
