Meet Erick Oluoch | Dj/Entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erick Oluoch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi erick, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
So quick story, I had just quit my day to day job at Walmart back in late 2019 and started Dj’ing full time right then Covid hit like everything shut down so had no stream of in-come besides my Video edits and Dj remixes, not going to lie the money from the gigs was really good that reflected on my end of year taxes.
Before the shut down I had gigs Monday to Monday, I was in a good space but at some point too much of something as they say is dangerous so I had reduce the number of days that I worked at clubs and do private events, I had to back peddle and find a good work life balance so I ended up going back to Walmart during the days that I didn’t have events, I had this question in my head if the back and forth was really worth it but turns out it was and now I run my own LLC and really proud of the growth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So my company is Hypemasters Entertainment LLC, we don’t just Dj we do event organizing, weddings, small business promotions, this is where we set up in front of your company and or offices do live shows and give shout outs to your specific company in turn we reach out to more potential clients. we do this on all my social platforms and its a win win for both parties. I am proud of the fact that we are able to reach out to different communities and inspire children which some of them do end up coming to learn the art of DJ’ing.
It was not easy theres so many road blocks that you come across, we’ve all seen / heard big Dj’s and or entertainers do interviews say how much they do for the community and how much they bring new Dj’s under their wing to be honest most of them do not do that unless you grew up or went to the same school and stuff of that nature, it sucks to say but that’s just the honest truth. If look closely at it these are the same people who know the owners and promoters they pat you on the back and tel you how good you are at the same time do their very best to make sure you don’t get a slot in an area. The option i went with was doing my youtube videos, little shots here an there and we still a win.
The lessons I’ve learned and is keep pushing nobody is coming to save and or hold your hand so your dream is there for you to catch and plant it so it can grow.
My story is long and a funny one starts all the way in Africa to where I am at right now and I always look back and smile one of this days I might write a book or do a Live interview so look out for that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
DFW is always amazing from indoor skydiving to go carts, hiking to camping and the food is amazing from all parts of the world.

There’s this Guy his name is Kgthedjtz, he is from Tanzania that’s in East Africa, Dude is is like the gods of the turntables he always sent me videos to learn from, he was and is more of a mentor and one of those people you meet later in life and the become a brother, yes I’ve met a lot of Dj’s promoters, club and event space owners but there’s always those ones that are always the same and he is one of them so more love more life and much more success to him.
