We had the good fortune of connecting with Erina McPeak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was that I had seen tons of local shows, but not many with vendors. Between bands, there’s not much to do besides drink and talk to friends. Having vendors fills that time to shop between sets. Also as a vendor myself, sometimes it’s challenging to get into events that fit my target audience. My art is very dark and spooky, so I decided I’d book Hardcore and Death Metal shows, and have vendors selling wares that match the target audience provided.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey into creating Sp00ki Creations begun when Covid hit. I lost my career as a hairstylist and found other ways to express my creativity. I’ve always been an artist but didn’t open myself up to selling my art to others until 2020. Soon after lockdown I started vending at my first events and I’ve grown since then into booking my own events under Rotten Booking, to bring out my target audience. My art includes two headed creepy conjoined stuffed animals, as well as vintage repainted portraits, goth home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite Houston spots include grabbing a drink and watching a show at The End, a music venue in Houston, grabbing a bite to eat at Pluckers, and skateboarding downtown by the skyscrapers late at night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to credit my friend Suzi Grimm for being there for me every step of the way in my journey to booking shows. Suzi helps me in making the perfect flyers for my events, and in networking with local and out of state bands.
