Meet Fakiha Dawood | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fakiha Dawood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fakiha, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
One of the most important habits that has helped me succeed is taking the time to genuinely connect with each person in my chair—their energy, their story, and how they want to feel in their skin. It’s not just about enhancing their outer beauty, but about understanding how they want to feel when they walk out the door. Another habit I never compromise on is my attention to detail. I truly believe the small touches throughout the makeup application process have a huge impact on the final result.
Together, these habits—deep listening, personalizing every experience, and showing up with consistency—have built a strong sense of trust with my clients. Even if it means going over time to fix something we’re not completely happy with, I prioritize the experience. I believe that’s what sets me apart and continues to fuel my success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is the mentality that there’s nothing I can’t do. I was fortunate to grow up with incredibly supportive parents—and a strong mother who instilled that mindset in me from a young age. I’ve learned that greatness doesn’t come from shortcuts; it comes from patience, practice, and experience. If you push through the moments that scare you, you’ll come out even stronger on the other side.
Starting my own brand was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but having my husband by my side—encouraging me and showing up in more ways than I could ask for—made all the difference. His support, combined with the belief system I was raised with, reminds me every day that even the biggest goals are within reach.
If there’s one message I want to leave behind, it’s this: keep going. Even on the days you don’t feel like it. Even when others doubt you. Stay consistent, believe in your purpose, and trust in the greatness you have to offer the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1 would start in the Autry Park area—one of Houston’s newer, up-and-coming neighborhoods with energy that is youthful and vibrant, with lots of people out and about. It’s a beautiful spot to stroll through during the day, grab a coffee, and take in the modern architecture and green spaces. After exploring the area, we’d come back in the evening for dinner at Toca Madera which is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the nightlife. Day 2 would be all about Sugar Land. As someone from Pakistan, I love how many incredible, never-ending, desi food options are here. Plus, the community vibe here feels like home to me. We’d spend the evening at Sugar Land Town Center, which is always lively and full of people just enjoying the moment.
Other places I’d take them include:
– Chinatown in Bellaire to explore Asian supermarkets, hidden food gems, and unique cultural experiences.
– The Galleria for shopping and dining, followed by a visit to the iconic Water Wall nearby—it’s a must-see photo spot.
– Allen Parkway at sunset for a stunning view of the downtown skyline—perfect for an evening stroll or bike ride.
– YoYo’s Hot Dogs on a late weekend night—it’s a Houston classic and a whole vibe.
– Traveler’s Table for dinner—it’s one of my favorite spots for global fusion dishes that never disappoint.
– Discovery Green for a morning yoga session or just a peaceful walk through the park, followed by a delicious brunch at a nearby café like Common Bond or Bravery Chef Hall.
– Museum District—whether it’s the Museum of Fine Arts, the Contemporary Arts Museum, or the Houston Zoo, there’s something for everyone.
– Buffalo Bayou Park for paddle boarding or just enjoying the trails and public art installations.
Honestly, the list never ends. Houston is incredibly diverse, and every part of the city offers something different. You could easily spend a whole day in each neighborhood and still feel like there’s more to discover.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to Outreach in the Barrio, a volunteer group in Houston that comes together every Sunday to provide meals to unsheltered homeless communities. This organization is made up of some of the most selfless and compassionate people I’ve ever met—individuals who give more than just their time to help strangers in need. Their work is heartfelt, consistent, and deeply impactful, and they truly deserve recognition for the way they show up week after week to serve with love, humility, and kindness. Being around that kind of energy reminds me what it means to lead with purpose, and I’m genuinely inspired by what they do.
