We had the good fortune of connecting with Felix DJ FXBOX Olmos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felix DJ FXBOX, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE that was the driving force that took me down the path I’m in right now.

I feel like the norm is to collect a check twice a month, I like to collect checks everyday of the month.

There is a saying that not everything in life is money but it really helps to be stable and to be safe and sound when the struggles in life come your way.

HARD WORK PAYS OFF.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an artist and creative in this era I’ve had to challenge myself to evolve as much as I can to the current state of artistic creativeness of the new generations coming up.

Many DJs and producers struggle with staying up to date even with jus the music much less softwares and methods that are currently industry standards.

But I’ve had to do lots of research and push myself to always DIG DEEPER into the music industry to stay current or as much as I can.

Not an easy task because we live in very fast paced world that will consume you if you blink and don’t keep up.

Again HARD WORK will always prevail so never give it up, cause somewhere in this vast world some else is making moves faster than you are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
THE BREAKFAST KLUB for the best breakfast in town.( MIDTOWN AREA)

I would also take my friend out to eat some good eats at BRASIL in the Montrose Area.

I would take my friend to the MUSEUM FINE ARTS HOUSTON MFAH being one of the most unique places In the world.

Definetly take a stroll around the HISTORIC HEIGHTS area to check out shops and beautiful homes.

There’s awesome coffeehouses in Houston like SIPHON, ANTIDOTE , THE TIPPING POINT, OSO COFFEE, THE LIST has coffee and clothes with my nephew BONES and his barber shop in the back.

For a good happy hour drinks maybe DEAN DOWNTOWN also PASTRY WARS for mezcal. MONKEYS TAIL happy hour rocks.
FITZCARRALDO in the EastEnd is definitely a good spot for good drinks and awesome chill time.

On the weekend THE FLAT HTX is like home to me, one of the most unique bar/lounge in the world.
You can always hear some of the best music and chill in the patio having great mojitos and good conversations.

TIKILAS in the Heights great weekend vibes.

Sundays FUNKY BRUNCH AT ONIONCREEK in the Heights where I’m djing Funky classic Hits.

That’s the check out spots for HTOWN

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would really like to give a shout out to my best friend who’s really a mentor, entrepreneur, father he is one of the people I look up to when it comes to make firm and rational desicions. I always run the things I in love myself with thru him because I really value his opinion.

I would like to introduce my friend and brother MARIO HK JARAMILLO founding member of the legendary Houston breaking crew HAVIKORO.
