We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaby Belusar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gaby, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Because I am a creative person who is always curious about making different things whenever I can, I naturally gravitate toward fashion in every way. I love designing and creating pieces that are not only unique but also hold meaning for the person who purchases them. Every item I make is crafted with intention, allowing people to connect with something special and personal. My passion for creativity drives me to explore new ideas and techniques, always pushing myself to evolve. I would love to make this my way of life and continue doing what I love for as long as possible!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
About my art and beyond… I have to say, I am proud of the way I have managed my small business, always knowing there is room for improvement. Growth is definitely my goal, but I understand that it’s a slow process that requires time, effort, and investment. I began by making jewelry with recycled materials, then expanded into designing hats and purses. Sustainability remains at the heart of my creations, as I continue to incorporate upcycled materials into my designs—something that is very important to me in the creative process. I believe that overcoming challenges is a never-ending journey; there will always be another artist with more followers, resources, or inventory. But for me, that’s what keeps me going—it’s a source of inspiration rather than competition. I want people to know that I am approachable and easygoing, and I deeply value the love and support of my family and friends, without whom I wouldn’t be where I am today. What sets my brand apart is my commitment to sustainability, bringing new life to materials by integrating them into unique, meaningful pieces.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My town of Dripping Springs is a true gem just outside of Austin! Nestled in the beautiful Hill Country, it offers a relaxing vibe far from the chaos of the city. I highly recommend stopping by any of the fantastic breweries, wineries, and distilleries the area has to offer—they truly showcase the local charm. We also have some amazing small, family-owned shops and restaurants that make the community feel even more special. I rarely venture into the city because I love staying local and supporting small businesses. There’s something so rewarding about shopping local and investing in the people who make this town unique!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All the ladies that are part of the CoOp that I belong to! All the ladies from Hand Made at Nutty Brown: Andrea, Allison, Diane, Cathy, Laura, Sheetal & Swetha. They inspire me all the time!
