We had the good fortune of connecting with Gia Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gia, is there something you believe many others might not?
I disagree with the idea that as an artist/creative that one should niche down. I am a multifaceted being so I should show all of that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my photography, this gives someone to view life’s moments through my eyes. Was it easy to get started, no because in my mind nobody would take a photographer with a visual impairment seriously. But a cousin of mine pushed me to start and BOOM! To overcome challenges I would get one of my kids to come along to shoots so I wouldn’t be so nervous and rush or fail during the shoots. I want the world to know a photoshoot with me is more then that, it’s phototherapy, it’s fun and I’m very humble. Remember you are so use to your own features, you have no idea how beautiful you look to a stranger.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would do JamNOLA, it’s a fun I teractive place. I’m so introverted me and my friend would have to wing it lol
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my amazing kids…K3, my Grandfather Leroy, my sisters Rashan & Falencia and last but not least the love of my life, Bae.
