We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be in control of what type of environment I wanted to give my clients. I wanted to make my own rules and not be under anyone.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have been a hairstylist for 11 years and a business owner for five years and I love every minute of it. I love creating looks that will complement the client. I love making women and men look their best. I like building relationships and helping people through their problems and I love talking about positive things. I love to inspire people and encourage them especially when they’re at they lowest because I know what it feels like and I’ve been there before.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take her to Houston Texas. I love Houston because there is so much shopping, eating, and fun things to do. Our first take her to the Turkey Leg Hut which is a black on business and the food is amazing I will also take her to Prospect Park during the evening time for music and fun. I will also take her to the escape room because that is a ton of fun, and of course one of my most favorite churches in Houston Texas called Church of the Nation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like give all the glory and honor to Jesus Christ, because him I would be nothing. He was my motivation for everything. He gave me the ideas and vision to be as successful as I am today. Next, I want to thank my mother. She brought me into this world and taught me a lot about hair and life. She was my back bone and motivation to be successful. I wanted to give her everything she never had. God bless her soul, she’s in heaven now. I want to thank Terrance and Sharon Hamilton for loving me like their own. They taught me about God and helped me to become a lady. I also want to thank these strong women and men who prayed for me and never gave up on me. They were always there when I needed them; My dad Gino Gordon, all of my siblings, Johnna Nico, Carolyn Brisco, Melissa Fontenette, Terria Lewis, Britney Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, LaSan Gilder, Chiquita Martin, Lamisa Nonette, and my closest friends and family (the list is long). Last but not least my husband, my best friend Jarvis Taylor. He is my heart and hype man. He inspires me to be greater. He is my ride or die partner in crime (lol).
