We had the good fortune of connecting with Glen Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Glen, how does your business help the community?
We are in the music industry. We design and build custom guitars and hand wired tube amplifiers for electric guitars. We are also a professional repair, modification and restoration shop. We help our community because of these services we offer but we take it to a different level. We donate our time for benefits to help raise money for those in need or to help raise money for a local museum. We help organize other musicians participation. We love our community here and appreciate their continued support.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Worked in my father’s commercial printing shop from a young age. I loved spending time with him, we were truly great friends. I decided to get into the construction industry in my early 20’s and worked my way up from a carpenter’s helper to a project superintendent and project manager. I worked in the industry for over 30 years. After suffering a debilitating accident, my health began to deteriorate until I ended up becoming deemed medically disabled. After many surgeries and a lengthy recovery, boredom and the local need inspired us to open the guitar shop. That was over 4 years ago.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Delicious seafood from Katie’s Seafood, a night of live music at Sharky’s Tavern for the Tuesday Night Music Club Open Mic with the Texas Tone Riders, a nice sunset cruise with Dolphin Tours and Captain Loren Cadenhead, definitely a tour of the local museums and a long evening stroll on the beach.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely my father, Carroll Ray Burke, Sr. who has ALWAYS been my real inspiration in life, my dear wife, Jovanka Burke, who supports me in so many ways. I cannot leave my Lord God out of this because his continued love and blessings are the real reason we’re ALL here.
