Meet GREATHOUSE | Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with GREATHOUSE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi GREATHOUSE, why did you pursue a creative career?
I want to leave a mark on the world. God gave me a gift and I want to share it. I want people to think of my music when they think about love.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not looking to make music for what is hot right now. I grew up on old school music that is still spinning today, because it meant something. I want my music to mean something and last. I also feel like I try to treat my audiences like family at my shows. I want to let them see the real me, my personality. I feel like that helps my music feel more authentic. I’m most proud that I haven’t given up. This industry is tough. The highs are amazing, but some of those stagnant periods are torture. I never feel like I’m doing enough. I’ve learned to keep pushing everyday, write a verse, tell someone about my songs, connect with other artists and fans on social media, just something that keeps me moving forward. I had a lot of help getting to this point. I’ve met some incredible musicians, artists, and producers who have believed in me enough to introduce me to others to help me move up and be heard. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to make every move intentional. Don’t just go recording 20 songs without a marketing strategy for each one and the album. If there is one thing I would want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m really that deep emotional guy. I’ve been hurt a lot but I’ve also had some amazing relationships. I write what I experience.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The time would have to be split between Houston and Austin, because that is how my time is split. I’ll give you my favorite spots to eat in Houston and then Austin. Houston- Barnaby’s, Esther’s, Kouzan’s, Pappy’s, BB’s, and Steak 48.
Austin- Sawyer and Co., Culinary Dropout, Sushi Zoa, and North Italia
Both cities have live music every night, so we’d be on a tour of venues each night. For drinks, Victory in Houston, where my boy Chace mixes up the best drinks in the city. Austin, Bar Peached makes some great cocktails. For sights, Austin has Mount Bonnell and The Oasis. Houston has one of the best theater districts, so we’d definitely catch some shows. We’re going to have fun in either city. I like learning, so museums are up there on my to do list, and I like to be around people I can learn from.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think I’d have to shout out the main producers I’ve worked with, Ced Smith, Freddie Fontaine, Chris Rockaway, and Madicin. Each of them have pushed me and helped me to develop my sound. I’d also have to thank Pepper Thomas and Terri Thomas (no relation lol) who gave my songs a chance on radio!
