We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Baylock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, what role has risk played in your life or career?
The old saying goes “Without risk there is no reward!” I believe when it comes to chasing or pursuing a dream or career you will always weigh the risk… yet passion will always supersede your risk. I’ve always loved what I get to do and that’s what drives me. I look back sometimes and think “what were you thinking?!” But I look to the future and I’m excited.

What should our readers know about your business?
Summit Motorsports was created out of an experience when I purchased my new car. I picked up the car at night and the next morning I noticed there were scratches. Long story short I found out that it’s a normal thing and the price for correction was astronomical. I taught myself then others noticed my work and began to hire me. It definitely wasn’t the easiest start but I had to continue to push past challenges. I’ve grown the company into different sectors such as customizing a vehicle to any degree, also detailing different types of vehicles and equipment such as RV’s, ATV’s etc. At this time we are currently developing composite materials to manufacture racing body panels and parts like those you see on Formula 1 race cars but for your road vehicles. The parts provide the same aerodynamic characteristics and handling. With anything in life you will have challenges, have faith and remain in position.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I’m not working I love to explore Houston. It’s such an amazing city that’s constantly changing its vast landscape but still rich with its history. Every part of the city has its own culture and food. You can find some of the best Mexican food and restaurants in South Houston, the heights has this new infusion of modern cuisine and som of the best night life. Montrose has always been a staple. I’m a car junkie and Houston is home to several car events. You can drive about 25-30 minutes outside of the city to have that country experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always want to thank my family especially my mom Patricia. I wouldn’t be anywhere without her. I also would like to give a huge shoutout to the FFA (Future Farmers of America) program. It taught me leadership and gave me my work ethic.
