We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Chisley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Listening to our Flavor Fans on what different kinds of seasonings they liked or wanted Vs the different kinds of seasonings that we liked or wanted to come out with.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our passion, unique products, and our “Flavor Fans” is what sets us a part from others. They say TEAM WORK makes the DREAM WORK, and we couldn’t have gotten where we are today without our “Flavor Fans.” Started a seasoning business in general is not easy at all. This industry is very competitive and filled with tons of different seasoning competitors. The great thing is no one can do it like you can. With the help of family, friends, and of course our “Flavor Fans” we’ve been able to expand, network, and be in places we’ve never imagined we’d be. Brand awareness has always been a challenge of ours. A way that we’ve over came it is by getting more involved. We started attending more community events, traveling to different networking seminars, and truly locking in on our purpose. We’ve learned that it’s not what we want, it’s about what our “flavor fans” want. We want the world to know that what we do is much bigger than our products. We genuinely care about our fans. We all know that great tasting food brings happiness and family together. We want the world to know that it’s not just about us, it’s about all of us. Together we can make a difference.

 

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely recommend going downtown to Avenida Houston for the top hotels, dining, entertainment, and arts. Discovery Green is another great choice. It’s a urban park that’s great for the family if you’re into music, attractions, and experiences.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to recognize my Dad Gregory V. Chisley Sr. He is the pioneer who started Chisley Unique Flavor Seasoning and with his help we’ve been able to expand our seasonings to “flavor fans” nationwide. I would also like to recognize my mother Myra Holt for being very dependable when we needed her, and for being the face of our inventory and shipping department.
