We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think like most people, taking risks can be terrifying for me. But taking risks has actually been what’s elevated my career. If I hadn’t taken some leaps of faith, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Choosing the self-employed lifestyle and going out on my own was a huge risk. Branding yourself and taking on every single responsibility that goes into running a business is a lot of work.

In 2021 I took a risk by diving into the influencing realm of social media. I unexpectedly grew from 0 to over 240,000 followers in a matter of weeks on TikTok. Subjecting myself to judgment, criticism and haters was almost enough to make me want to quit.

With these risks, I now have a clientele that’s doubled in size. I am booked 8-10 weeks in advance. I’ve received recognition and been gifted products from brands I admire which is something I never expected to happen. And I’m now growing my brand even further into online education for other licensed professionals.

So I say take the risk, you can’t grow if you’re always playing it safe!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want the world to know that hair artistry is real and what we do behind the chair is hard work. Hannah Delaney Hair was established in 2018 but I’ve been in the industry almost 10 years, located in the Atascocita area.

Staying strong and believing in myself and my craft is what got me where I am today. There is always challenges, especially if you’re not established somewhere you are happy. I learned to never settle for a salon environment I wasn’t happy in.

That led me to going out on my own and bringing Hannah Delaney Hair to life in my studio. My true creative inside was able to shine through and that’s when my career really started to grow and I flourished as an artist.

I pride myself in the type of service I have to offer and the transparency and honesty you’ll receive in my chair. I don’t sugarcoat and I offer a very relaxed and judge free zone which keeps my clients always coming back. You want to trust your hairstylist like you do your doctor. 😉

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be perfectly honest, I never have time to be out and about these days with work and raising a toddler as a single mom! You can typically find me on the couch with snacks and reality tv on my down time.

But if I am going out, definitely in the downtown or midtown area is where I might end up. I always like to look for drinks and eats that are more low key.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt, my shoutout goes to my clients. I wouldn’t be the artist I am without them. I wouldn’t have the career that I have if it wasn’t for them. They are who make me a hairstylist, an artist. I wouldn’t be me without them!
